I don't want to stop your comparison but Gene did have TWO undefeated seasons as head coordinator. And he also coached at Auburn for several years, so the transition was easier. Plus look at the recruits he pulled at Auburn and Iowa St. compared to Dooley. Chizik even got a couple 4 star players at Iowa St which was key in beating Texas.

I know alot of people say its all Cam, but he beat TN last year and won 8 games with very average players. Thats better than Dooley or Kiffin could do with recent top 10 recruiting classes.

Great, EXPERIENCED oline + dominant athlete at QB with perfect system fit + manageable schedule + Nick Fairley + LUCK = great season.

Noone in the country would dare mention that Auburn's oline is tearing up defensive fronts right now, not when there sexy QB is running all over the place. That oline wont be there next year, and that is by far the most important piece to their team this year. They've also won a lot of 1 possession games this year, pretty fortunate so far.

All that being said, Chiz made a great o coord hire and snagged Cam and Fairley (a one man defense right now). The fact that Chiz is a defensive minded coach doesnt bode well for the Tigers IMO becaues that D is brutal. If malzahn sticks around, he will have success, if not, he'll struggle mightily on the plains.

Yeah he has a stupid name, and an awful record at his last stop and he wears that stupid short sleeve windbreaker thing every game. But Chizik is a very good coach and he has a great staff that is much deeper than Malzahn.

Not to mention, one of the reasons for their success this season is that CHIZIK forced Malzahn to change his philosophy to try to have more sustained drives. Thus giving their thin D more time on the bench.

Their roster was not way better. Gene just coached up what was there and recruited way better the "last two years". Last I saw, Auburn had the highest attrition rate in the SEC so they've gone through more players than TN.

I've been vocal about Meyer on here in this regard. I just think he gets way more credit than he really deserves for Florida's run of success.

Auburn wasn't bad when hr got hired. They haven't lost 20+ players due to attrition either. Plus they have great recruiters. Well be fine with a couple more recruiting classes.

He best hurry, because Rivals has us listed as the #2 disappointing team as far as 2011 recruiting goes(So far) this year. We rank just behind Penn St..

Even without Newton and Malzahn they're out recruiting us for the most part, but that isn't saying much since most of the SEC is also.
