I think I read that the dog was near a closet, not in the closet.

I know they've talked about how a gas leak wasn't "readily apparent," but that has to be what happened. I'm sure they'll find a place where gas was leaking or could have leaked. It seems like the only possible explanation given everything else they've said.
he was in the mudroom. she was in the bedroom.

No way it was a gas leak

That makes more sense, even though the article linked above stated "in" a closet.

Both bodies were found decomposed and partially-mummified. Possibly dead for two weeks.

Hackman's cane and sunglasses were found near his body.

Two other dogs found alive.
My guess, Hackman died naturally and wife committed suicide by pills. 1 dog starved to death or ate the pills that were found, the other 2 dogs were surviving off of the corpses. Terrible

Some people like to bring dogs to the grave with them. The wife probably killed herself and the “favorite” dog.. left the door open for the other 2

Gene was old as ****. No surprise he went. RIP. Royal Tenenbaums is a personal favorite.

Funny story, Gene was an old friend of former Jaguars head coach Jack del Rio. Apparently they knew each other through Gene's wife (RIP) and Gene became an honorary Jaguars fan. I saw him at training camp multiple times and called in the radio show a couple times. Seemed like a nice man.

He was pretty well talented at any role he was cast.
A few that I thought he was very good:
Unforgiven
Enemy of the State
No Way Out
The Firm

Other memorable rolls...

Hoosiers
The French Connection
Crimson Tide
The Superman movies
Mississippi Burning
The Quick And The Dead
Young Frankenstein

Hackman was a legend! One of my all time favorite actors!

They've changed the story. It's no longer a German Shepard in a closet. It's a much smaller dog in a crate

Sheriff's office makes error about Gene Hackman's dog in initial death report

It’s unclear how the dog was misidentified in the report

USA TODAY learned the dog who perished in the Hackman home was actually Zinna, a 12-year-old reddish Australian Kelpie mixed-breed who had once trained in agility skills to compete at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Her body was found in a closed crate in the home, according to Joey Padilla, who transported the surviving dogs to his facility, Santa Fe Tails.
