Yeaaaaaa this pretty much sums it up for me.....Geno thinks Parker is a self-absorbed, ball hogging diva, that's only a "me" type of player, that he didn't want to deal with or to be a part of the Olympic team, so he told the committee..."NO Parker"....in so many words!!

Thank God he has that class act Diana Taurasi to showcase class, composure and sportsmanship.

Did he have to pay the refs under the table to make sure that she gets a few more technical fouls she can burn through before she's ejected from the game?

Taurasi and Geno...one POS that deserves another POS...more toxic than any skeeter bite could ever be...if a skeeter has the ability to bite more than one POS... that skeeter should win an Olympic medal for trying to rid the earth of so much toxic waste! :crossfingers:

HA. He ignores Parker and mentions another player in place of her, knowing full well the controversy is about Parker's absence. He's still smarting over that slam dunk from 2007. Figures.

Is "smarting" the right word in this case? His decision was an emotional one, not a smart one.

LOL! You people are ridiculous! I've never seen a bigger collection of bitter fans.... you make stuff up to feed your hate for UConn and Geno. 95% of what you say is all speculative... nothing would ever stand up in court. You think you know what Geno is thinking and why he does things he does, but you're clueless. You don't like him. OK, I get it. But you've been accusing him of things for years that you know NOTHING about...so, you just make it up. How is it you know so much about what goes in in Geno's world? You have no proof of anything you've said over the years, yet you continue to say those things. It's laughable.

.....and by the way, for those that thought Parker should be on the team instead of Stewart, she's handily outplaying Parker as a rookie.

"...nothing would ever stand up in court." No one ever said he was dumb and stupid...just a spineless, unethical, cheating, vulgar, arrogant, worthless POS...and there are those who know plenty on the jerk...just not dumb enough to share with trolls like you

Any team that doesn't include Candace Parker is not the best team you can put on the floor. None of the excuses you make will change that. I'm still waiting for someone to explain why she would be a problem to have on the team.

And I'm still waiting for the evidence that Geno hates Parker.

Gule, you're absolutely correct. Parker had a tremendous first year in WNBA. I remember her first game and I think she put up 32.

Oh really? Is Stewart the only player in the league in the top 10 in points, rebounds, and assists?

The basketball community loved Pat because she had class, would she be proud of you for showing yours? This was a tough year for the basketball community but even tougher for the VOL fan base. I hope her dignity rubbed off on you! If you don't want to support USA women then don't but ask yourself what would Pat do?

Coach Pat Summitt KNEW the sort of low-life human being that Geno was & is.
Skeeter is waiting for him in Rio.

Everything you wrote falls on deaf ears over here....if you go write this on the Boneyard I'm sure you'll get more of a response!!!!

Everybody already knows what Pat did...she dumped Geno and didn't play him anymore. Duh.

That's nice. Has it become an individual sport for some? I still regard it as team play.

I guess for more clarity:

This UConn fan is done trying to get into it on a thread with with posters who say things like "Just hoping for him to get that first skeeter bite" Does your hatred have no bounds?...

Ignoring for the moment that this is not the first time you've said you're done posting on this subject (and then you continue to post), like the poor marksman you are you keep asking the wrong question: It's not why do Tennessee fans hate Geno, it's why does Geno hate Tennessee and Candace Parker? He started all this as you know but are too afraid to bring up. It's why you constantly apologize for him.

Oh, yes, feel free to be "done trying to get into it" on VolNation.

I have no reason to think Stewart is anything other than a fine basketball player and person - after all, I never heard her use a 4-letter vulgarity when talking about Pat. The same isn't true of Geno. I know what I've heard him say. You don't.

The USA better win the gold or he will look like a damn fool

Oh how I wish Parker was playing on the US Select team last night instead of those UConn stiffs. With her I have no doubt they would have beaten the Olympic team Geno assembled, which would have been hilarious....

I think this quote gives a clue about Auriemma's thinking:

But he (Auriemma) does not worry about his star-studded roster fighting for the ball. Auriemma said he loves this team because players will adapt to any role.

"It's a lot like a great orchestra," Auriemma said. "Everybody is playing their particular instrument and may be the best in the world at that. But that doesn't mean that you get to do your own thing because all of a sudden it's not an orchestra anymore. It's just a bunch of individuals trying to show how good they are. Everybody on this team, the reason they're on this team is because they understand that.

"They are really, really good at sizing up the situation and saying, what does this team need from me?" Auriemma said. "Not like, this is what I do on my team so this is what I'm going to do here. No, [it's], what does this team need from me and how do I complement everyone else. And we're very, very fortunate that the players that we have really, really think that, feel it, buy into it, and live it every day."

I think Linkster is actually on to Geno's reasoning. They seem to think she would not be the team-first player they are looking for. I don't think it's an anti-LV thing (i.e., Tamika).

Not sure where this perception comes from if this is the case. Seems to me that she is a team player for LA.

She's always been a team-first player. She's second in the league in assists as a PF/C, and led the league in assists last year. The only reason people say she isn't a team player is because they hate her and can't find anything else to criticize.
