Geno on Parker's absence

Face it, the makeup of this Olympic team has little to do with anything other than uconn recruiting. I have no doubt that this team will win gold with or without Candace. But uconn's recruiting will benefit from the inclusion of one more husky. Geno should just admit it and move on. (Just kidding on that last sentence, he'd never admit it)

LOL! You people are ridiculous! I've never seen a bigger collection of bitter fans.... you make stuff up to feed your hate for UConn and Geno. 95% of what you say is all speculative... nothing would ever stand up in court. You think you know what Geno is thinking and why he does things he does, but you're clueless. You don't like him. OK, I get it. But you've been accusing him of things for years that you know NOTHING about...so, you just make it up. How is it you know so much about what goes in in Geno's world? You have no proof of anything you've said over the years, yet you continue to say those things. It's laughable.

.....and by the way, for those that thought Parker should be on the team instead of Stewart, she's handily outplaying Parker as a rookie.

Should CP be on the team? Why/why not?

As a head coach would you have made it a point to have her on the team? Why/why not?

So after you have answered the questions above do you still think your post that I quoted makes sense?

I think Linkster is actually on to Geno's reasoning. They seem to think she would not be the team-first player they are looking for. I don't think it's an anti-LV thing (i.e., Tamika).

Not sure where this perception comes from if this is the case. Seems to me that she is a team player for LA.

Thanks for seeing my point. I still have no desire to get into it. I posted the article because it was relevant to topic. I have no idea what happened or why but that quote is the closest thing to an explanation that has come from the USA BB side. I have never met Auriemma or Parker have no idea of their relationship.

Pat's illness, ya dolt!

So Pat was ill in 2008? That doesn't sound right. Are you sure or are you just using that as a convenient reason. Maybe someone else should answer that question because it doesn't seem as though you know much.

We won the national championship in 2008. Try again.

The same Parker who leads her team in assists and is second in the league in assist behind sue bird and is the only Forward/Center in the top five in that category is not a team player? these people sure are quiet when one of their own cusses out the refs which results in technicals that eventually lead to suspensions but when Parker says anything to the refs they claim she's a prima donna as if she's the only player in the league that has gotten angry with the refs.

Still trying to make sense of an Olympic roster without Candace Parker

"But the question about why Candace Parker didn't make this team lingers. Parker's omission threw an ember on what's been a potential tinderbox since UConn coach Geno Auriemma has been the national team coach -- which is, of course, the idea of favoritism toward former UConn players and others who are pro teammates and/or good friends with them."

No! What we are saying is this Geno stunt looks like CPF benching Peyton Manning his senior year and starting Jim Bob Cooter instead.

Face it, a controversial story would have never developed had the correct decision been made in the first place.

I enjoy watching the team. I miss Parker, but am fine with cheering those at the dance. Don't watch if the grapes are too sour. Your loss.

This UConn fan is done trying to get into it on a thread with with posters who say things like "Just hoping for him to get that first skeeter bite" Does your hatred have no bounds?

But just to provide some more insight into Auriemma's thinking here's link: Not Much Prep Time, But Geno Confident Olympic Team Is The Right Mix - Hartford Courant

I think this quote gives a clue about Auriemma's thinking:
Is he implying Candace is not a team player? A ball hawk? If you watch her place you see she is not that at all. What is she, second in the wnba in assist? Nice try but not buying it.

You can't come up with a legitimate excuse for Candace not being on the team. Because there isn't one.

I'm not going to go over your idiocy point by point. First, you don't really have a clue concerning Lady Vols and LV fans. Accusations? How about Geno the Italian draft dodger? Check it out and justify it. I'm not sure what Stewart outplaying Parker has to do with anything. Where is Stewarts team ranked and where is Parker's team ranked? It's a team sport and Parker is doing what's best for the team. And winning.

Do you enjoy watching Catchings ride the pine? If the exhibition schedule is any indication, she will be the 12th (wo)man. But I'm sure that's just coincidence....

I checked it out. Geno was born March 23, 1954. Although the legal authority to conduct the draft ended in 1973, a year after Auriemma turned 18, the last induction of anyone into the US military by means of the draft occurred well before he turned 18. And in any case he was in college and didn't become eligible until well after the draft ended. Having been 19 at the time of the first draft lottery I have vivid memories of the time. My birthday is 4/23 and the second number drawn was 4/24. I was driving at the time and almost ran off the road. LOL

And BTW, is there a difference between an Italian draft dodger and say, a draft dodger of some other ethnic background? I'd like your explanation as to the relevance of Auriemma's native country to his draft status.

It's probably just a coincidence that Luigi decided to become an American citizen at the age of 40 just in time for his UConn team to tour Italy.
