Anyone know details about Geno & Pat feud a few years back?
Yes. It was about being the 2 HCs of the 2 dominant programs in women's BB at that time. Now it looks like the feuding is between Muffett McGraw and Geno as it is now Notre Dame and UConn that are the 2 premier programs.
And I agree with others; Geno recruits great talent; and he gets the maximum out of his players, and they execute at both ends of the court as talented teams should execute. Like him nor not, he's the best coach in the women's game.
That's pretty much what went down.
Dang. I've heard this too. That makes perfect sense, but nobody ever seems to want to discuss it. Goes hand in hand with the strange silence / boycott that Pat kept over it all for a few years there too. As if it's illegal or something.
Geno seems to be pretty spot on in his analysis. Nothing wrong with him saying that if the data backs it up. Facts are facts, and I'm certain 99% of parents would want to know this kind of information before picking a program. It would be considered extremely important for most.
Geno cheated got caught at it, lied, Then start name calling. There is more to it but UT never needs to play Cheating Geno in anything. He's as low class as they come.
Please educate us. Since that's a blatant lie, please inform us of the blatant truth.
Anyone with a shred of common sense would know that's a flat out lie. He's coached tons of lesbian players on UConn and the National team. Do you think for a minute that they would be playing for him if they knew he was using lesbians as an anti recruiting method for other schools? Gimme a break! Even Geno laughed when he heard that rumor because it's so ridiculous.
Feel free to show the news clipping or interviews from Maya or other players backing up your claim. Oh, that's right. You have none. You're just as bad as the UConn fans who make a big deal of Pat's sexuality.
"Win, and the means will be judged honorable." Machiavelli.
Stop worrying about geno. Tennessee needs to worry about getting better, which I can't see happening until we find a smart, hungry new coach. Hiring a Friend of Pat was a mistake. We got ourselves into a bit of fix with all the "legendary Pat" stuff--just like Penn. State did with JoePa, which started well before PS retired and will go on for a while yet. Warlick is too much of a player's coach to be a winner. She is soft, and that is one reason why we play soft (and dumb). Geno is a hard ass and makes no bones about it. Most great coaches are demanding--not pretend demanding, demanding. I spent a lot of time with a hall of fame college coach--and he did not tolerate bad decisions and stupid play.
she sure acted like a snot tho,,,,I hate to see any of the girls hurt.UCONN has had it's share this year. I do really hope the LV do better come OcT.but you know it took Geno really 4 years before thing got better,Holly not doing that bad, just need to get a bit tougher is all
Honestly, I'm surprised he's not ever been snatched up by a men's program somewhere. Anyone know if he's ever been approached by teams?
when he started out coaching,I do think he wanted to be coaching a mens team badly, but nobody offered or wanted him,and I do think the offers were few and far in between later on,till he started making a name in the womens game
after CPS had forged the way for him and others, once he started making some good bucks in the womens game,I believe he didn't want to go to the mens basket ball game for fear of getting his ass whooped and canned
of course this is all speculation on my part, but it seems right to me
