George McIntyre : His school went 2-10 last year. How is he so highly rated ?

Unless there's going to be a lot of disappointed Vol fans Nico is gone early. Otherwise we're dealing with injury or performance iffy enough that "coming back" is for the purposes of trying to raise draft stock that's borderline.

Hasn't Nico already won a natty and been named to the pending NFL All Pro team? He's clearly THAT good.

I do not follow high school football much so genuinely curious: How is a guy from 2-10 high school so highly rated ? #2 in 2025 class ?
Also how did his school make it to State Quarterfinals with a 2-10 record ?

(not trying to be negative. I am genuinely elated to land a QB this highly rated. Just trying to understand)

Talent is Talent...

During John Elway's college career, Stanford never went to a bowl game or won a championship

Elway did not start his freshman season, he was a backup and the team went 5-5-1
His sophomore season, they went 6-4
His junior season they went 4-7
and for his final season they went 5-6

Still, he was an All American and went into the college football Hall of Fame

He also was the number one pick in the NFL draft.

It is entirely possible for great players to play on bad teams.

I can't answer the high school playoff question. No idea how that works.

Some of the things that I've seen him do in his highlights are out of this world. Spinning from a tackle and throwing a dart just was amazing. I've never seen a high school QB do it like that. Dude is a stud. Absolutely am so happy that we have him. He seems intelligent, competitive and everything that you want in a future Heisman winner.

He has a ton of attributes that project extremely well. He’s got a very high ceiling

Alabama was 0-10 in Bart Starrs senior year!

The TSSAA is a complete joke. Not to take away from the players and coaches who work hard to win a State Championship but NINE classifications? Give me a break.

The way he keeps his eyes downfield under pressure is impressive.

Watching this reel you can tell he is a legit 5*. he feels pressure in the pocket and moves up in the pocket to buy time. He has excellent touch and great deep ball accuracy. He also runs tough, does not shy away from contact. He can make all the throws, even the deep out. I love the drone highlights, its like playing madden lol!

When I looked at their schedule, it seems they played all the highest ranked schools in Tennessee last year in every game. They beat my high school Christian Brothers from Memphis last year as well and they are usually pretty good.
yo, shoutout from a fellow brothers' boy ('90).

He looks the part a lot more than Ty Simpson did against decent, but not great, 3A competition (Covington, for example)...

DIIAAA is no joke. Ba’s coach last year was. He ran off a bunch of alumni including some vfl’s that were on the previous coaching staff. The new coach is much better. Has experience in mid tn and has won multiple state titles. In DII

Pretty much every private school makes the playoffs because there are so few of them. There are always 4-6 public school teams and sometimes 3-7 teams that make the playoffs each year too. There are too many classes and some regions only have 5 or 6 teams so all you have to do is finish with the 4th best record in your region and boom, you are in the playoffs. Don't even get me started about having to drive 1-1/2 hours for a region game.
I saw one year an 0-10 team made the playoffs. What a joke.

TSSAA likes to make money much like the NCAA

Is he willing to sit for 2 years though and maybe longer if Nico goes four?
I don't give a rat's. I'd rather have $10K house money to play with than running valet service for the casino.

It's an enviable problem to have.
