George Soros aske Obama to investigate undisclosed person

Or the entire Russian thing. LG started at least 3 or 4 threads about how it was all over based on new information that couldnt be shared.

It's not a Trump thing. Or a republican thing, or even a Democrat thing. It's a politician thing.
I've seen high-profile attorneys use similar tactics. Sometimes CEOs although it is rare since they have to answer to stock holders over the long term.

Not only is it not specified who Dershowitz claims Soros wanted investigated... but it's not even stated if this person was ever the subject of an actual investigation. Did Obama compel an investigation into this unspecified person or not? Unclear. No proof is given, pretty much nothing is given... just the word of a man who recently argued in favor of Trump before the Senate - and the source he used was Breitbart, a site which has trafficked in debunked Soros theories in the past. Yawn.
I think D argued for the rule of law and our constitution, not specifically fro Trump. I don't think he has any positive feelings for Trump but he doesn't want this nation from becoming a Banana Republic...

He seems to think so, doesn't he?

I'll reserve judgment until we see what this is all about in the coming lawsuit. Odd he can say it happened and has reports, but will not discuss it because a lawsuit is coming. Why say that now? Why characterize it as he did but then give excuse not to provide any detail? Goes to media and says "I know bad things but will tell you none of it."

And the underlying, unspoken assumption is that Soros' request had no foundation and that it was a political hit. Soros has lots of business dealings. He could have very well been defrauded or made aware of a Ponzi scheme operated by some hedge fund managers, etc.

Alan Dershowitz did customize his argument before the Senate specifically for Trump's defense and this last line which I put in bold is comical.

This was a line taken directly from Dershowitz's argument:

"Every public official that I know believes that his election is in the public interest. And mostly you're right. Your election is in the public interest. And if a president did something that he believes will help him get elected, in the public interest, that cannot be the kind of quid pro quo that results in impeachment." - Alan Dershowitz

In this statement, Dershowitz is arguing that if Trump did withhold military aid to the Ukraine for the purpose of using it as leverage against their government's willingness to perform a campaign favor for him, that would be acceptable because re-electing Donald Trump is in the best interest of the American public. In essence, Dershowitz was saying, what is good for the president, is automatically also good for the public at large. That is an argument in favor of a banana republic and it is absurd.

....and that there was in fact, an investigation that ensued as a result of a request made by Soros. The "allegation" here is so vague that it is more of an insinuation than anything else. Alan Dershowitz is looking more and more like a political operative these days.

That sort of speculation is the foundation of the right wing echo chamber. A report of literally nothing becomes a conspiracy by Obama and Soros to spy on Trump. Dovetails nicely into things like Trump Tower being bugged (false) or other such right wing garbage.

I'm saying its an odd thing to do, especially from Dershowitz. Go to super right wing media and say you know of this but you can't reveal any of it. You target the readerships' two biggest lightning rods for hate and wackadoodle conspiracy nuts -- Obama and Soros- and you literally offer no substance whatsoever. Why do that? Just really odd, especially for him.

Bait ?? They know Trump can't watch that fly float downstream without striking. just a way to get him to sound off??

Dems thinking Trump will be booted from office. Republicans believing in the grand Soros conspiracy, Georgia fans thinking this is the year again. Figured I was just stating the obvious that we are a nation of gullible idjits.
