Not sure you guys realize just how hot we are right now.
Our record is misleading of our talent since we're an EXTREMELY young team whose growth was slowed by injuries and suspensions.
The fact that we came from the #9 seed in the MAC tourney to win it (beating 8, 1, 4, and 3) is a sign that we aren't that same team that got blown out at Pitt early this year. We knew we had talent here, but this team turned the corner at the ideal time. :dance2:
The tourney is all about guard play, Cooper and Bassett are as good as they come. Washington comes off the bench at PF but is really a starter minute wise (foul trouble brings those #'s down, that's the reason we bring him off the bench actually)..
If Washington can stay in the game early, we are fully capable of beating G-Town.
Obviously Georgetown is a great team. They've been fairly inconsistent though. If they don't show up to play, they are doomed.
If they do show up, we will need some things to go OUr way to pull off the upset. Firstly, we need to get some 3's from Armon Bassett and Tommy Freeman. Bassett and Washington are fully capable of getting to the line and hopefully getting Monroe in foul trouble... That'd obviously be huge. We also need to force Georgetown into turnovers. They've had an issue there all year, and we've got some quick guards who like to pick pockets.
We WILL get blown out if we go back to younger inexperienced team we were early in the year... I just don't see that happening though.
Either way, I really don't understand why we've been given 0% chance against G-Town. Any research at all would show we've started to peak at the right time, and that G-Town has some consistency issues... Not saying it's a sure thing by any means, but I truly believe that we've got a much better chance at an upset then the experts are giving us... (Well, they are actually giving us no chance)
Good luck against SDSU, we'll be waiting in the 2nd round.
