Georgia Fans are NOT ready for what is about to happen this year

Yeah, I am glad the staff will be able to ease Marlin Lane into some carries with Poole taking most of the workload.

How about the defense? You guys have the personnel for the 3-4 yet?

Let me tell you something, I know I'm a homer and all but I try to be as objective as possible, I really try.

I am excited to see what our D can do this year. We have the right guys in place this year.

At NG: Last year we had nobody and we had to use D. Tyson. The kid tried really hard but he was a very undersized NG. This year we have Big John Jenkins and Kwame Geathers. Both kids will play at 340+ and are very athletic. Those two boys will command a double team.

At Ends: D. Tyson will move back to his natural position, look for him to make some noise this year. We have Abry Jones on the other end, another experienced guy that will make some noise. We have plenty of really good depth at this position as well. Derrick Lott and Garrisson Smith will definitely see the field.

At LB: We have some athletic freaks at this position. Alec Ogletree will become a name recognized around the entire league this season. Jarvis Jones will step right in for Justin Houston. Christian Robinson is probably the smartest kid on our defense. Cornelius Washington is ready to make a big jump next year. We also have very good depth at this position. Chase Vasser, Mike Gilliard, Drew, Herrera, and Wilson will definitely see the field this year.

At Secondary: Everybody knows about Boykin. Branden Smith looks like he's finally ready to step up. Shawn Williams has stepped up his game so much that he has worked himself into the starting rotation. Rambo has been getting pushed this year and it seems that he has responded to the challenge. Look for Sanders Commings to make some plays this season. We also have pretty good depth in our secondary, a little young but they can be brought along just fine.

Sorry to ramble on forever but as you can tell I'm very excited to see what our D can do this year.

I seriously hope Boise State destroys Georgia. I hate everything that has to do with the University of Georgia.

I think Georgia will be better. Mark Richt is under a lot of pressure to win this season.
It's interesting that SC/Georgia game at the start of the season may decide the SEC east.
How often has that happened?

anyway, just thought I would share, UGA fans are NOT ready for their 7-5 season that is about to happen, let's be sure and remind them every week they lose.
OVER AND OVER AND OVER.

Actually, Georgia is very well set up for a surprise season, and is a definite sleeper for national title contention. I suspect it's Georgia's critics who are not ready for Georgia's season, rather than the other way around.

1. The talent on their team ranks in the top-5 in the country;
2. Their offense has been in the top-4 in the SEC even with new starting QBs the last two seasons, and now they have a returning QB who played well last season and has looked excellent in camp, with elite talent at key skill positions;
3. Their defense is in the 2nd year of the system with a good DC and talent better befitting their system.

I think its crazy to say Georgia will go 13-0, and also think its crazy to only give them 7-5. The talent seems to be there with a very favorable schedule to win the east. Your hatred of them is getting in the way if you don't think they have a very legitimate chance to win the east. The main variable to me is Mark Richt. Are his teams still lackadaisical and undisciplined or is this "new" approach really going to get back to the early 2000's when they were solid?

Very well put. Absolutely nothing wrong with this post.

Georgia lost their only offensive weapon in AJ Green. They also lost their top two RBs. Murray has no go to guy on offense. They lost most of their OL.

They couldn't score points without AJ Green last year, see Colorado. They only put up like 3 to UCF with Green.

They are in the 2nd year of the 3-4 system.

What does all of this mean? Mark Richt will get fired this year.

1. Murray is an offensive weapon; Charles is an offensive weapon; King played well last season; Brown has played well since spring; Mitchell is a very talented frosh, and so is Crowell. If you don't think frosh can make such an impact, remember...Richardson at Alabama, Dyer at Auburn, Hunter here at Tennessee, just for starters.

2. Their offense finished in the top-4 in the SEC for the second year in a row without Stafford at the helm.

3. Their second season with better 3-4 type talent is only reason to believe they will be better defensively, and defense has been their only problem since 2007.

What does all this mean? Betting against Georgia this season would be ill-advised...

There talent level has been top notch every year! They get top recruiting classes every year! They can't seem to do anything with it, and I can't see it being any different this year. Maybe this year is there year to win the east I can't see it happening until it actually happens! They aways seem to find ways to under achieve every year! There is a good chance for Georgia to go 0-2 to start the season, we all know how hard that is to overcome!

On paper, UGA has looked pretty good the past 2 years too.

Very hard to disagree with this statement. You're right, the talent has always been here.

Sometimes though, there's other factors off the field that creates alot of distraction. It may sound like an excuse and all, but there has been plenty of documentation listing our off the field troubles. It takes a very disciplined football team to have success. I'll be the first to say that there has not been much discipline on our team for the last 3 seasons, both on and off the field.

And offensively they finished in the top-4 in the SEC each year. Their problem was defense, which only became a problem in 2008-2009, when Martinez' schemes fell apart. Grantham is a good DC, whose defense was solid in its first year without all the right talent for his 3-4 schemas. They are now in the second season of the system, and, critically, added some key players for their system, especially the DL.

Also, remember their schedule is also very favorable this year.

It would be worth about 2 wins a year if you guys would just implement a Driver's Ed program.

At NG for sure. Big John Jenkins and Kwame ready to go.

UGA has the schedule to win 9 or so with this team.

What will be interesting to see is what they do IF they drop Boise and USCjr. Do they rally and finish strong? Or finish like last year. Does the pressure on Richt turn to a positive or negative.

We could easily end up losing both of those games. Boise is top 5 and the Chickens are top 15 with tons of talent on the offensive side. I'm just as curious to see how we react if we were to lose both games.

The Boise game does not concern me as much as the Chickens. Its always a big disadvantage losing the first conference game. Its up to our coaches to keep our boys focused because our schedule is much more favorable after the first 2 games.

I still remember 07 when we lost to the Chickens early and then UT handed us our azzes in K-ville. Our boys stuck together and ended up going on a great run to finish the season.

Hard to tell how the team reacts to the pressure on a coach. UT has seen this before. There seems to be a lot of pressure building down there and I don't get the feeling this is one of UGAs better teams of late, but the SEC schedule does help.

I see UGA splitting those 2 games not sure which they beat but I think they split.

If they puppies lose the first two I think they will fold their tent. MR will be done this year if they drop those games.

The Georgia fans I am forced to put up with all think this year will be THE year for their return to glory. They also all have us pasted in the "instant win" column. I hope we make their season rocky and contribute to MR's misery. They are too inconsistent to have earned the right to be this arrogant.

GA is a lot like UT this year but with more talent. Until either team shows me they know how to win i'm saying 7wins for UT and 8 for GA. I agree if they lose to Boise and SC it will be ugly especially if either game gets out of hand.

I have a feeling Boise may be a wake up call for UGA. Which I'm not saying UGA is terrible or anything but 9 wins for them this year is a stretch IMO. Just like 9 wins for the vols would be a stretch. The east is still up in the air for me.
