Yeah, I am glad the staff will be able to ease Marlin Lane into some carries with Poole taking most of the workload.
How about the defense? You guys have the personnel for the 3-4 yet?
anyway, just thought I would share, UGA fans are NOT ready for their 7-5 season that is about to happen, let's be sure and remind them every week they lose.
OVER AND OVER AND OVER.
I think its crazy to say Georgia will go 13-0, and also think its crazy to only give them 7-5. The talent seems to be there with a very favorable schedule to win the east. Your hatred of them is getting in the way if you don't think they have a very legitimate chance to win the east. The main variable to me is Mark Richt. Are his teams still lackadaisical and undisciplined or is this "new" approach really going to get back to the early 2000's when they were solid?
Georgia lost their only offensive weapon in AJ Green. They also lost their top two RBs. Murray has no go to guy on offense. They lost most of their OL.
They couldn't score points without AJ Green last year, see Colorado. They only put up like 3 to UCF with Green.
They are in the 2nd year of the 3-4 system.
What does all of this mean? Mark Richt will get fired this year.
Actually, Georgia is very well set up for a surprise season, and is a definite sleeper for national title contention. I suspect it's Georgia's critics who are not ready for Georgia's season, rather than the other way around.
1. The talent on their team ranks in the top-5 in the country;
2. Their offense has been in the top-4 in the SEC even with new starting QBs the last two seasons, and now they have a returning QB who played well last season and has looked excellent in camp, with elite talent at key skill positions;
3. Their defense is in the 2nd year of the system with a good DC and talent better befitting their system.
On paper, UGA has looked pretty good the past 2 years too.1. Murray is an offensive weapon; Charles is an offensive weapon; King played well last season; Brown has played well since spring; Mitchell is a very talented frosh, and so is Crowell. If you don't think frosh can make such an impact, remember...Richardson at Alabama, Dyer at Auburn, Hunter here at Tennessee, just for starters.
2. Their offense finished in the top-4 in the SEC for the second year in a row without Stafford at the helm.
3. Their second season with better 3-4 type talent is only reason to believe they will be better defensively, and defense has been their only problem since 2007.
What does all this mean? Betting against Georgia this season would be ill-advised...

It would be worth about 2 wins a year if you guys would just implement a Driver's Ed program.Very hard to disagree with this statement. You're right, the talent has always been here.
Sometimes though, there's other factors off the field that creates alot of distraction. It may sound like an excuse and all, but there has been plenty of documentation listing our off the field troubles. It takes a very disciplined football team to have success. I'll be the first to say that there has not been much discipline on our team for the last 3 seasons, both on and off the field.
And offensively they finished in the top-4 in the SEC each year. Their problem was defense, which only became a problem in 2008-2009, when Martinez' schemes fell apart. Grantham is a good DC, whose defense was solid in its first year without all the right talent for his 3-4 schemas. They are now in the second season of the system, and, critically, added some key players for their system, especially the DL.
UGA has the schedule to win 9 or so with this team.
What will be interesting to see is what they do IF they drop Boise and USCjr. Do they rally and finish strong? Or finish like last year. Does the pressure on Richt turn to a positive or negative.
We could easily end up losing both of those games. Boise is top 5 and the Chickens are top 15 with tons of talent on the offensive side. I'm just as curious to see how we react if we were to lose both games.
The Boise game does not concern me as much as the Chickens. Its always a big disadvantage losing the first conference game. Its up to our coaches to keep our boys focused because our schedule is much more favorable after the first 2 games.
I still remember 07 when we lost to the Chickens early and then UT handed us our azzes in K-ville. Our boys stuck together and ended up going on a great run to finish the season.
