theres a difference between capitalism and gouging, and right now its absolute gouging.
It's "SUPPLY & DEMAND" at work. The best part is that you don't have to buy the tickets if you choose not to. If I have a "widget" that's in hi demand and low supply, I can sell it for the highest price someone is willing to pay. Would you sell me your car for $100? If so, I can come get it today.

If you have a wanted skill or an item, why not sell it for what the market is willing to pay? Why give it to someone that is going to give you $50 when someone else standing there is willing to give you $100.

I would be willing to call it gouging if you had something in almost unlimited supply that would benefit most humans but you only sold a few so you could get filthy rich instead of just rich.

True but if a miracle happens with Mizzou or Ole Miss knocking off UGA in the next 2 weeks. A loss by Fla turns the game in Neyland into the SEC East title game.
That would definitely increase prices but still nothing like last year. #1 vs #2 regular season matchup is “Game of the Century” level (even though it actually happens about once a decade or so.)

I’m kinda surprised at the surprise around ticket prices- hell, all the way back in the 1990s good seats for premium games were in the hundreds of bucks - and that’s thirty years ago.

We have less seats and more fans now. And this is the most marquee game on our home schedule. It’s a big damn game- especially considering UGA is gonna lose to Missouri or Kiffin - or both.

Tickets to go see George Strait are 500 apiece -
Inflation abounds.

I agree with you on the #1 vs #2 because that also decided the East. Might have cost even more if that was in Neyland. I just think anytime we're playing a division title game the ticket will be ridiculous. I think that scenario is right up there with playing a rival @ home, who we haven't beaten in a while, that happens to be ranked 1 or 2.

I just checked and tickets for Georgia are starting at 279$ before fees. Over 325$ for a decent seat before fees.
That makes them close to 400$ right now.
They will be 700$ by game day if Tennessee beats Mizzou.

This is why I do season tickets and only go once or twice a year. Sell the rest and I’m almost going for free.
You’re the devil

It can’t be considered gouging, because it is a want not a need. It is absurd however. The only way to stop it is to not go. That will lower the prices quicker than anything.

Per The latest Sports Talk J video on You Tube where he showed the upcoming schedule with ticket prices,

I would not be surprised if tickets end up being in the $750-$1,000 price range.

Well if Georgia is top 2 team rolling into Neyland where there hasn’t been a win streak this long since the 90’s, I would guess you’re right.

The games aren’t really worth that kind of money. You can get yourself a really, really nice setup at home and “tailgate” with friends. Saves time and effort trying to park, getting setup and the rest of the cost that goes with going to the game.

Win-streak vs Win-streak game is going to be big dollars + celebs or at minimum with Peyton.

If you're talking about selling tix you already own, I disagree. If you're NOT a season ticket holder already pick and choose which games you sporadically attend, then I agree.
