Georgia @ Tennessee Game 3 Thread - 2PM - SECN+

Being a Tennessee baseball fan is as sad as football!!! Went to the auburn game yesterday and watched the auburn coaching staff win them the game with coaching decisions... 2 outs runners on first and second and the coaching staff subs in a freshmen that hasn't played all game.. but can smash the ball!!!! Kid steps up and hits a 3 run bomb to win!!!

the kid hit the dinger, not any one on the Auburn coaching staff

There was no reason to bring Dave back on a one year lame duck extension after last season. This should have been handled a year or two ago. It doesn't take 6 years to build a baseball program no matter how bad it has been.

If Hart hadn't been on his way out they likely would have made a change after last year. But honestly, I wouldn't have wanted Hart making a baseball hire knowing he was headed out the door, anyway. I'd much rather leave the new hire up to Currie since he has skin in the game now.

As has been mentioned upteen times, Serrano is a tremendously nice man, but in SEC baseball it is about Ws and Ls, not about being a nice guy.

There is no way to candy coat that Serrano's SEC record is worse than was Todd Raleighs. Got to make a move.

I'm just shocked at how many people were fooled by him winning some meaningless non-conference games again this season. We have about 3 legit SEC arms. Our offense is about the same as last year.

Maybe they should take the softball approach and get co-head coaches. 2 heads are better than one. Or the Holly approach. Just scratch your head and play dumb. But seriously. We have a fanbase that is trying to get excited about baseball. We have a decent stadium. Its time to get a great coach who knows how to put a great staff together.

I try to care but college baseball is pathetic. Partial scholarships and much, if not most of the elite players go pro right out of highschool.

I actually prefer baseball to basketball in this regard. The elite "one and done" players in basketball largely wind up at around 4 or 5 schools (UK, Duke, UNC, Kansas, UCLA).

Between that and overseas players, half the NBA draft is made up of players that either never play college basketball stateside or players that play a handful of games for a handful of teams.

Contrast that was SEC baseball, where you still see tremendous talent on the way to the MLB (the leading candidates for rookie of the year in both the AL and NL were playing in the SEC this at this point two years ago) but you at least get to know the players before they go.

Well that will be hard.

How many wins to save CDS's job

It should be an NCAA tournament appearance to save his job. If we are being honest, I'm sure they would keep him around for squeaking into Hoover again.

We still play @UF, @A&M, @UK, and @Vanderbilt. We would be extremely fortunate to go 4-8 in those 12. 8 more losses puts us at least 16 SEC losses. That assumes we swept every remaining home series and somehow go 4-8 in those series.

This could get REALLY ugly. I'm talking 7-23 or 8-22 type of ugly. Losing a home series to UGA is just that bad.
