We did have some success with big pass plays. But UGA ain’t MSU. Also, what’s the status of Thorton? Will our WRs show up with butterfingers or sticky fingers? There is no debate that UGA is vastly more talented than MSU is in the secondary. Can't??? You're that absolutely certain about it?
Did you watch UT's game last night?
UF is 73rd in total offense and Wes barely beat them in OT. The rankings don’t matter in this game. They really don’t. We have a championship caliber D and UGA is, checks notes, 50th in total offense, 104th in rushing (between 103 Ga Southern and 105 Ga State!).
We need to clean up penalties, control the ball and not turn it over.
No, I'm not acting like we got anything figured out. I'm saying we have the potential to hit those down field passes at any time. They've been open every week. We're more likely now to realize that potential as the season progresses while Nico has gotten more comfortable. That's allWe did have some success with big pass plays. But UGA ain’t MSU. We can definitely win. But you are acting like two big passes against MSU means we have the big boy passing game figured out.
Florida 2001 wasn't a night gameBeing a road game at night could be tough especially in Athens, but as another mentioned in a different forum, Florida 2001! Will happen? It’s definitely possible. If it does I think it will be due to Sampson having 100 yards rushing and Peyton Lewis giving us a preview of what he will be in his career as a Volunteer! Maybe I change my mind pending the injury report Wednesday but my current prediction is Tennessee 31 UGA 17
GBO
The defense has to shut them down, and Nico has to deliver in a game where the yards will be hard to get. If Tennessee can score first, take the crowd out of it, it could be Tennessee's day. Like Johnny Majors would say, "We felt like it was going to be our day." This thing is not an impossible dream...I feel better about the game than I did early in the season, when UGA has exposed they aren’t the UGA of past few years…we have a chance, depending upon Nico situation, but night home game at UGA…it’s gonna be tough. D will have to set the tempo, and offense make enough gash plays.
I watched the Ole Miss game and they had open receivers everywhere. Their backup QB was just throwing at will on UGA. I was a bit surprised they put Dart back in but he shredded their D also. Maybe the rain and being on the road affected UGA. It will be harder for us at Athens at night but they are beatable and our team mirror's Ole Miss team more than any other team in the SEC. IMO we have to have no turnovers, the last 2 games we have been driving for a TD in the red zone & Sampson has uncharacteristically fumbled. This team cannot overcome that again on the road and we need to eliminate crowd noise aided penalties keeping u behind the chains. This is not a team that works well starting out 1st & 15. We need to run the 1st down and get to 2nd at least 7 yards are closer to keep the D on their heels. Staying behind the chains is a recipe for defeat. No, I'm not acting like we got anything figured out. I'm saying we have the potential to hit those down field passes at any time. More often than not it's not an either/or extreme scenario as the simpletons want to frame it. I know big stats are a thing for the know nothing's of our fan base
GA house is crumbling. They need CBJ brick by brick to fix that mess! We got this!I hear over and over how Georgia has a bad secondary. Why did it have to be that? UTs weakness it appears is the passing game and I'm hopeful something can click and they gel at the perfect time because Georgia is more bearable than they have been in years and I don't want Tennessee to squander the chance to take their place atop the SEC.
I fear that the game will turn into a slogging of Tennessee's defense doing everything they need to do to stop Georgia from scoring but then they just turn around and run it up the gut into the teeth of the Georgia DL because they can't solve the big pass play puzzle.
I hope I'm wrong but at the beginning of the year this felt like an automatic loss but now I know Georgia is nothing to be scared of and totally beatable so I hope UT can do their part and take advantage of the situation!
