It seems like every story I read says they have an offer from the last staff, but has not been contacted by the new staff. Should I be concerned? Or am I just being impatient? :dunno:

I'm wondering the same thing. My guess is they're busy evaluating and will decide who they want to extend offers to shortly. They only get one call during the dead period and they may not want to waste that call until they're sure they want to pursue that person (why call them if they can't answer if the offer is still good or not). Still, you would think with Chaney and Thompson holding over there would be some kids that wouldn't require much evaluation.

There is a lot of time between now and 2011 NSD. The coaches have to evaluate who they already have, add in the 2010 class then see what the future needs will be. Right now they probably are going through all the various coaches' databases to see if they can get some of those kids interested in UT.

We need a huge junior day. I agree you are exactly right that most prospects haven't heard from the staff yet.

they are most likely re-evaluating the talent + getting acclimated to UT! When they got here they spent 100% of their time on recruiting... now I think they are most-likely getting their ducks in a row in-house first before calling more new recruits. Their plates are full... I say give em a break!

WTH???!!! We need numbers here for junior day! We can scrutinize players later. I'm sure many of these kids are questioning UT now if they haven't heard from this staff. Simple phone calls are not that hard to make.

One thing is for sure... this staff doesn't move as quickly as the last. That will hurt and help.

simple phone calls are hard to make if you are not allowed to make them by the NCAA.

I didn't know this was restricted time. They can't call now? That would explain alot... but how would they manage to invite kids to Jr Day?

through letters i assume.

players can call a coach as much as they want.

MacLain should call Dooley immediately imo.

They don't move as noisily.

They may be moving on from or evaluating some of these targets who are wondering why they aren't getting a call.

Or, the staff is on vacation somewhere, and will get back to them in a few weeks. :good!:

I'll take the high horse approach to this issue. If all these players who say they have UT high on their list have not been contacted or have not re-connected with the new staff, what is stopping them from taking the initiative and calling CDD or his staff? What about their coaches? A simple phone call from a player's coach, parent, guardian, whatever to the UT staff expressing interest in attending junior day or an unofficial visit or "what's up with my scholly offer" might help. Or maybe we are just not interested in them any longer. I guess I am just sick of the "they aren't showing me love" mentality that has been so prevalent in the last few years.

Not everyone the old staff wanted will fit the new. Three come to mind. :)

These coaches know what they are doing, thats why they are being paid the "Big Bucks". Be patient.

What's the difference between a quiet period and a dead period?
Dead period no contact is permitted except one phone call per week initiated by coaching staff, recruits can call as often as they want. Quiet period contact is limited to on campus visits, I would assume one phone call a week is still permitted though. Not sure on that one. Rules regarding contact maybe different concerning junior and senior prospects? Not sure on that one?

I would assume the scholarship offer is from the university not the coaching staff. So we're ok.
