3 months ago i was counting down till we get our national championship....now all i can think about is how many coaches are we going to go through till we find the right one. im giving dooley a chance but as of right now i think he is a sitting duck....we HAVE to recruit better than anyone and that aint happening right now...

You are kidding, right? You have no idea what's going on right now. At the same time McLain seemed to be getting his feelings hurt, one of the best TE's in the country expressed strong interest in UT... that kid in WA could turn into the first 5* TE in quite some time. Meanwhile, one of the best LB's in the country from Tx has also publicly declared interest in UT pretty much out of the blue.

So we praised the last staff for recruiting only the best and bought into it because they constantly talked about it... now some of the best give us clear indication that DD is recruiting the best... but we whine over a kid too impatient to wait a couple of weeks?

There's no guarantee the old staff would have ever won a championship. It's just that they would have improved our chances through recruiting.

As for MacLain, it's interesting to note that UT was the only SEC school to offer. Maybe somebody knows something we don't...

His situation might have something to do with the fact that the previous staff liked to recruit HS tightends and grow them into college OL. Maybe he wants to play TE in at the mext level?

Its still early. Many kids who will end up in the SEC have not gotten SEC offers yet.

Still, you would think someone else would have offered by now if he's as good as advertised. Besides UT, the rest of his offer list consists of ACC schools and West Virginia. Even South Carolina hasn't offered.

Many of the "elite" 2011 players already have the offer list to back it up. Look at Austin Seferian-Jenkins, the Washington TE UT offered that caused MacLain to decommit. Almost everybody who matters in college football has offered him...

No i understand Jenkins is a much better prospect than Maclain, im just saying that Maclain will end up a decent player. Prob a four star and there is a spot in the SEC for four stars.

I wouldn't consider MacLain a 4* TE, only as an OT. JMO though.

What was the LBs name?

Of all the criticisms one can make about Kiffin, dishonesty with recruits certainly wasn't one of them. Just ask Tajh Boyd, Bryce Petty, Damien Thigpen, et al.

Yes, agree. That was aimed at college coaches in general and a little sarcasm hinting that maybe the coaching staff knows what it is doing and is acting with integrity.... But after reading what I wrote, wasn't very successful at my attempt.

he's good. He'll get a bunch of offers, his coach was on the radio and reeled off a bunch of schools that called after his decommit, including ala. But I bet the honest ones all tell him the same thing, your a tackle big boy, not the next whitten... He might be in for a rude suprise....

If he works out at D1 you will know soon enough if he has what it takes. If he does the staff will know about him soon enough. The guy that runs D1 in Cool Springs (Bartholomew) played FB at UT and his brother is on the team currently.

That's what we are hoping. He's scheduled to start working 1 on 1 with Ryan Carl. Another former UT player. My son is pretty pumped about it and can't wait to get started.
