Ginsburg, 85, hospitalized after fracturing 3 ribs in fall

The fact that you put so much weight on the shoulders of one government official is scary . All things have a beginning and an end , that’s just the way it is . What you do in between that time is the only thing that matters , not trying to hold onto something that is fading . Since you like sports analogies I’ll hit you with one .... Brett Favre and Peyton Manning , both incredible at their jobs , both spending their whole life doing where made to do , one understood it was time one didn’t . Nobody discounts what either accomplished , but everyone knows one hung around past his time and one didn’t . 🤷‍♂️
One government official??? Give me a break. Everyone knows the balance of the court is at stake; and she is more aware than anyone of the long-term negative impact court decisions can have.
Plus-That's a horrible analogy.
A better analogy would be Peyton pulling himself out of the Super Bowl because he wasn't having his best game with full knowledge that his replacement would throw the game for the other team.

If Clinton were president, she would have retired two years ago. She will retire the day Trump leaves office.

Unlike Peyton , she’s not having her best game , she isn’t even able to do her job now . It’s amazing and sad that it all boils down to politics and trying / hoping not to die before a president leaves office . Smh .

That all he cares about. Has no concern for her health or her time with her family. It’s all about Trump
He’s a political hack and a trashy person.

His worried about one liberal judge and putting his hopes in her hanging on long enough to out last Trump . Meanwhile this is the real story that doesn’t get the spotlight ...

The only long term negative impact is her holding onto a position she can’t perform the duties for.

At this point she is a human bookmark. She’s not hearing arguments, she’s not involved in cases. But she’s librul so we must preserve her or Trump will nominate a conservative justice and all the brown people will be put in camps. They don’t care about her, they care about her saving her seat as long as possible.

Yep. She should’ve stepped down under Barry but the arrogance of the dims never saw their demise coming. She should retire and enjoy what time she has left because I don’t see her making through Trump’s second term.

You are not that naive.
Peyton's last game was in no way had his best game, but he battled through and did just enough to give his team the chance to win, which they did.
If it didn't boil down to politics, Obama would have made his last legal pick. If it didn't boil down to politics the right would come out and say, replace her with someone similar and let her retire with dignity.

She can retire with dignity anytime she feels like it and everybody will sing her praises for fighting the good fight . The question is , is she doing her job or just holding a place on the court and letting everyone else pick up the slack ?

She is doing her job by denying Trump another pick. The court is already out of balance tilted right. She understands better than everyone the devastating effects of even greater imbalance.

In other words, Luth is okay if a Dem POTUS does it, but not a GOP POTUS.
If one of the two had to happen, I would certainly prefer a dem do it.
Everyone would say the same if being honest.
The best scenario is a court that is balanced.

I don't think maintaining a political balance in the court is in her job description.

Which section of the Constitution defines blocking a functioning SCOTUS seat? Asking for a friend.
