What does the defense have to do with his performance? Everyone wants to say he has it easy cause all he has to do is put up 17 to win. But they don’t, he leads an offense that puts up 40+ PPG. We led the nation in scoring, total offense, rushing TD’s and did it while being extremely balanced so we either have talent too or a scheme that’s “gimmicky” enough to win despite our “lack of talent”. What our WR’s have to do with the discussion is to show that we have the talent around HH as well to help his productivity. He’s not throwing to scrubs.
A lot of Bennett's success is his team's success. When people walk about Bennett's stats, the first they mention is his record as a starting QB, which is really a team statistic. Offense and defense play off of each other. UGA's offense sleepwalked through the Mizzou and Kentucky games and were still able to pull out victories because of the defense.

Eason was a 5*, Fromm was a 5*, JT Daniels was a 5*. UGA never won a title with any of them under center despite having NFL talent around them on both sides of the ball. You nailed it, SB4 isn’t a world beater QB with superior talent, but he’s done what no UGA QB has been able to do since Buck Belue. He’s a winner and a leader.

Fields was a 5 star. Not Frohm

And on a night when the defense slept walked and gave up 41 points he came through with 400 yards passing and 42 points vs. OSU. The guy is pretty steady Eddie and has a calmness and swagger about him that gives you confidence in any game. That part of his game reminds me so much of Clausen.

Georgia's D was #10 in the country and gave up almost as many yards per game as Kentucky.

Granted, GA had a great defense but they also had a dang good offense.

Yeah, but if they lose to Mizzou and UK there's no chance of him scoring 42 to beat OSU.

They had a dang good offense because they were constantly put into good field position.
They had 501 yards per game. We had 525. Their yards per play was 7.17, ours was 7.23.

Their defense must have been almost as bad as ours because they had enough distance to gain almost as many yards as we have.

They were darn good on offense regardless of their defense.

The ONLY reason people hate on Stetson is because he wasnt highly ranked. If one of their 5 stars put up the exact same stats and exact same record, no one would talk about him just being part of the system.

I have no idea why people want to diminish Stetson or his stats.

I personally dislike Stetson because of his arrogant attitude. He was a system qb and won't do jack in the NFL.

I think it’s because we don’t like Stetson personally 😂 he seems like a brat

He is. I live in Athens, Georgia and we have a friend that's a diehard UGA fan. Our friend is a sane UGA fan, I'll give her that much. A couple of nights before the Kent State vs UGA game, Stetson was hanging out at one of the bars downtown and she politely asked for a picture while he wasn't doing anything. He replied "Do you know who I am, I don't do that".

I was also puking the other night when I saw the crappy UGA fans comparing him to Tom Brady and Michael Jordan. We live in a world full of idiocy folks.

That's fine. But I am pretty sure that's not what was being argued previously.

And personally I could not care less about how players do in the NFL when judging their college career.

Bennett is like Drew Brees. You look at him and say, "That guy isn't that good" and you look again and see he doesn't excel exactly but he just doesn't screw up a lot and the numbers pile up.

Bennett isn't a great QB. He doesn't screw it up though, doesn't try to overplay his ability, doesn't force throws, didn't try to put GA on his back and carry them. And the numbers piled up.

Great? I dunno. Is it great to just not screw it up?
Drew Brees is a great comp for him. His arm and feet are good enough and if you combine that with him being a super experienced 25 year old with good talent around him, this is the result. Hendon Hooker is obviously bigger and can affect offense more with his legs, but we had a lot of the same dynamic going with him. In college football, you just can't overstate the value of poise and experience at the QB position.
