Glad to see Georgia is playing Southern University

Again facts and logic are not your strong suit, it would be a decent argument had they scheduled anyone outside of GT with a pulse

That's not even close to being right. They've played Colorado, Boise State and Clemson the past few tears in addition to Ga Tech every year which has been pretty good.

If you're gonna hit on a team for a poor OOC schedule, Georgia would be one of the last I would suggest in the SEC

Mississippi State is the worst. Arky, Vandy, UK, and UF as well.

Florida has had a national title contender on the schedule, out of conference, for basically 26 of the last 32 years.

Find another school that can claim that.

How you gonna criticize Florida when they've got FSU on the back of the schedule every single year?

Yeah, but they never schedule another power conference team (even an average one) besides Miami or USF sometimes, and even then they don't leave the state.

Spoken like a fan that has no clue what a real in-state rivalry is all about.

It'd be stupid to do otherwise.

Yep.

This thread is great. I don't see any difference in scheduling La Monroe or BG. Both scheduled for wins. Georgia always schedules well OOC. No beef here.

Now that FSU is a juggernaut, yeah. But even when FSU was mediocre last decade their OOC opponents weren't able to put up a fight. I'm not asking them to schedule a home and home with Oregon - just play at least one team with a pulse. I advocate the same sort of OOC for UT - a good-to-great team, a decent team, and two cupcakes.

I had no idea they were scheduled to play Michigan at a neutral site in 2017, though.

So Florida has to have the foresight to see Florida State would be down for a few years? You think Oklahoma was kicking themselves a year ago for not seeing Tennesssee would be very average when they signed the contract?

Shame on the Noles for not scheduling another big name opponent this year since Florida is expected to be average.

How the heck does anyone know 5 plus years in advance which season an Arkansas State is a 6-6 type of team or a 2-10 type of team?

Florida played Bowling Green in 2012. Do they qualify? They played Miami in 2008 and 2013. They played Toledo in 2013. They played Hawaii a year removed from a BCS bowl in 2008. They played South Florida in 2010. They played UCF in 2006.

There is no way to know 5+ years in advance which opponent will be a BIG cupcake and which team will be halfway decent.

In the meantime, for the most part, unlike scheduling UCLA, Cal, or whoever on the schedule 5 years in advance......Florida pretty much has known what it's going to be getting with Florida State on the schedule.

The Michigan-Florida game set in 2017 is a classic example. Right now, that's two name schools that aren't very good and aren't close to being ranked. By 2017, who knows

Florida State has played Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, and Alabama in recent years. They will also play Ole Miss, Boise State, and Bama and ND (again) in the next few seasons. Seems like it would pretty easy them to just say screw it and run the table on the relatively weak ACC to get to the playoffs by dropping those teams for New Mexico State and Miami of Ohio.

Again, I don't want UF to schedule a big name opponent every year. Just someone with a pulse. Quite a few UF fans feel the same way from what I've seen.

Who does Tennesssee "schedule with a pulse"? Florida State since 1990 is a top 5 program. This convo is hilarious.

Oklahoma this year. Nebraska after that. I think we may even break down and have you hits on the schedule in a few years.

None of which are better than Florida State. That's my point.

Not at this moment, but those are still elite schools. Scheduling a home-and-home with those teams indicates a lack of fear. It's not the most pragmatic way to go about it, but it's still pretty commendable.

I'm guessing you're an OSU fan. I think their schedule last year was fantastic. Despite the loss VT wasn't as good as they were supposed to be, but Navy and Cincy are both decent teams that put up a fight.

So you think scheduling BG, Western Carolina, Oklahoma and North Texas is better than scheduling
NMSU, ECU, FAU, and Florida State?

I don't get that at all. Looks basically identical. I wouldn't throw stones in glass houses.

Since Florida State won the title and made playoffs I would say that's a superior schedule.

And we just had a home and away with Oregon just a few years ago. They beat FSU in the playoffs last year, so what's your point?

That scheduling Florida State every year is good enough. If you think Tennessee schedules tougher non con each year you are blind.
