After seeing the last game it was very clear that Worley is not capable of running a read option offense. I returned to VN today to see that Jones is open to playing the BEST QB this week. Personally, I feel that the returning guys are not built for this offense at all. It requires a good athlete, and the only one I see is Dobbs at the moment. Too me it makes perfect sense to just get him on the field now and get him an early start on being the QB fir the next few years. Saving him from the schedule is useless because we will not beat anyone with Worley unless he is in a drop back offense.

First off, just because he's black doesn't mean he can run a read option. For the 1,000,000th time, Dobbs is a pro-style quarterback, not a duel threat.

Secondly..... This is being discussed in almost every thread. Dobbs hasn't even taken snaps this week. The battle is between Peterman and Worley.

Thirdly, Dobbs has never played a down of college football. He may be the second coming, but we can't say for sure until we see him get some PT.

I must have missed the game Dobbs played in.

If Jones starts either freshman at Fla for their first game he definitely doesn't 'get it'.

No way he does that. He is smarter than that.

I agree I don't think he will throw the young guys in at the swamp. That by far would be the worst game to give them snaps in. I think Worley will start and Butch will slowly work Peterman in. Lets just hope we get some consistent play at QB saturday. Lets get behind who ever the QB is and just hope they have a half way desent game. GO VOLS!

did it not occur to you that the coaches felt like they had the BEST qb in the game? I am hard pressed to think that any coaches would willingly put the 2nd or 3rd best QB in the game.

I hope that whoever starts has a break-out that will be a thing of legends ...but if we had that guy , I think that we would already know.

two words : Recruiting / patience

Thanks coach.Where did you see all this from Dobbs? His Alpharetta highlight tape? Not saying he isn't gonna be good but with our situation if he was the answer then he would be in there. He's about 4th in the depth chart btw.

All I wish for is someone to get behind center and play like they "ain't skeered to death" personally that would be good start IMO..

It doesn't matter who starts. Might as well build for the future because Worley certainly isn't the answer.

Football Recruiting - Joshua Dobbs - Player Profiles - ESPN Dobbs is listed as a duel threat qb by every recruiting service

In 1976 a fella by the name of Bobby Bowden took over a losing program at FSU.

He lost his first 3 games. One of those games was a blow out loss to Miami 47 - 0.

After his third loss he said that if he is going to get beat with his juniors and seniors he might as well be getting beat with his freshmen and sophmores.

He decided to get his future players some exp. He went 5 - 7 that year.

The following year he was 10 - 2. The point is UT does not have a power house team this year. In my humble opinion I do not think it would hurt to start working toward the future at the QB position.

We are already playing alot of young players at alot of the other positions why not QB.

Im just sayin

Good post.

IMO we cant do that yet. We're 2-1 playing in our first sec game. Way too early to throw in the towell. We owe it, esp to this senior class, to play to win this season.

IMO, Worley will start and Peterman will play especially if Worley struggles again to hit open receivers. If they both struggle, one of the freshman will start next week.

It's not 1976 anymore, the scope of college football has changed.

I heard in 1923 a school played all freshman! And won!
I bet we could do that also...because it happened in 1923 and all

Wow, Did you make this observation from all of the practices you attended? Or did you use youtube high school videos to make this observation?

Oh, have you contacted Butch to let him know what he should be doing?
