Glad to see Jones is not blind

Butch did this primarily to keep the fans at bay. Worley and maybe Peterman are the only starters considered this week. Peterman will likely get more than mop up duty but very likely will not get the initial start. I support whoever the coaches trot out but I sure as hell hope the offensive unit as a whole steps up. Especially the passing game. UF will be loading the box and licking their chops this game.

I hope we get some production from the qb. The probability of this happening increases with Worley on the bench.

I believe Worley, VolNation, the Team and the Coaching Staff will know after Saturday for sure whether Worley is the answer the rest of the way.

I believe the team the coaches and the volnation has known all along that Worley is not the answer. He is keeping the spot warm for which ever freshmen develops the fastest and can grasp the offense enough to take over. Worley is not a d-1 qb.

IMO, Worley will start and Peterman will play especially if Worley struggles again to hit open receivers. If they both struggle, one of the freshman will start next week.

Freshman won't get chance until after off week if then. they have not had enough work and are not ready to play. jmo

From an outsider's perspective: (LSU fan)

You guys need a QB who thinks he's the baddest motherfu**** on the field at all times. You need a guy with confidence like that to help you guys win and bring a winning attitude. That guy from what I've read is Riley Ferguson. Sure, he'll make a ton of mistakes, but he'll be the only one who would take chances too.

Don't get me wrong...the Vols certainly are lacking the kind of talent they need to compete at a high level this year. HOWEVER, the talent discrepancy is not as bad as you think. This is probably the worst stretch in Vols history and you guys are still pulling in 4 stars. Your talent is certainly as good or better than Vandy's and MSU and probably even Auburn's talent level. Playing with a winning attitude can help this team overachieve and maybe go 7-5 this year. For that to happen, you guys need to beat AP, WKU, Vandy, UK,and South Alabama. Then you need to win 2 of UF, USCe, mizzou, Auburn, Bama, and UGA. Obviously, the best 2 chances would be Auburn and Mizzou. But, you probably split those and pray for an upset of UF or USCe.

Appreciate the post.

I don't know, but the last 8 years it sure seemed like our coaches were blind, as well as a few of the players.
Dooley may not have been blind, but he sure couldn't see how to win.

Regarding the two true freshman QB's, I suspect that one of the issues that Coach Jones is considering is the impact of selecting one or the other. Both of the QB's appear to have a high upside and there is a distinct possibility that if one of them is selected, the other may consider transferring out.

First off, just because he's black doesn't mean he can run a read option. For the 1,000,000th time, Dobbs is a pro-style quarterback, not a duel threat.

Secondly..... This is being discussed in almost every thread. Dobbs hasn't even taken snaps this week. The battle is between Peterman and Worley.

Thirdly, Dobbs has never played a down of college football. He may be the second coming, but we can't say for sure until we see him get some PT.
How in the world did you decide that it was needed to make such a statement? Race has nothing to do with it and acting as if it does is insulting.

If he may be the second coming why would you not want to get him some PT? Is that not what we recruited the young man for? If our offense is a read option and Butch recruited him...I believe that Coach Jones believes he can run the offense. What is the discussion about?

Worley starts and ends if it's close. Peterman in the 4th with big lead. Peterman sooner if a Gator smashing is taking place.

We haven't had a duel threat since the 1800's when Aaron Burr shot Alexander Hamilton. Just sayin'

The only way we see a true frosh is if our season has gone horribly wrong. JMO but I think everything Butch has done so far confirms that.

And for all the people wanting Dobbs bc he's an athlete...coaches and observers have all said Ferguson is the best athlete we have at QB.

It is very necessary. Calling Dobbs a dual threat just because he's black is disrespectful to him. A person's race does not determine what kind of quarterback they'll be, although many on here seem to think it does.

He may be the second coming, but so may Ferguson, so may Peterman. Dobbs will play when Jones thinks he's is ready. At that point, we will find out what he can do.

I expect Worley and Peterman to play against Florida mainly because Worley want get it done and Peterman will have to come in. If neither plays very well against Florida I look for one of the freshmen to get their chance vs South Alabama.

I think this is the best chance for Fergie or Dobbs. I hope we beat Florida, although I don't look for it. But if we do, we may not see either freshman this year.
