Global Warming is a legit threat

Here's a pretty light read (compared to some of the others links I've posted anyway) about that Argo buoy system I referenced earlier. The guy is pretty even handed about it but does poke some fun at AGW types. He's pretty selective about it so he's not just putting down anybody that buys into the theory. He also seems to share my "So where the *&%*^ is the media on these kinda stories" POV. Anyway, here's the link:

Seriously, it's nearly impossible to get even an accurate prediction of local weather more than a day in advance, and often one-day forecasts are wrong too, so there is no way you can convince me that these idiots can predict global climate over the course of years our decades. It's absurd.

Their argument is that "weather" and "climate" are two different things. I can handle the idea they are trying to put forth on this but I share your frustration in the point you're making. When you really put your boot to their throats the AGW people will tell you, basically, it's all the best guess they have extrapolated from the best information they have. I can live with that being an honest answer but how the *(%^$# does it then become an honest means of tearing into the world's economies and consuming enormous amounts of funding? Anybody is free to postulate about anything they want until they start reaching for my wallet to keep doing it. I get a bit grumpy when I'm funding a "best guess".

its weird to me that when politicians urge americans to recycle and treat their environment with respect and give legitamite evidence as to why they need to NOW...then we come up with ridiculous excuses as to why their ideas are a crock. NEWS FLASH! we are doing damage to our environment. to all you retards saying that we are in a cycle need to realize that this period in world history is completely unique in that we polute the environment like no other group in history. just because its al gore doesnt mean its bs. the fact is that al gore is smarter and more informed than anyone that has ever posted on this board...as is every presidential candidate that has ever lived. if you're too lazy to take your trash to the recycling bin, just say so.
