..and some uaw member is on a GM board crying a river.

Paraphrasing: "I'm gonna lose my benefits, my pension, my $70.00 per hour for installing door handles." The dude can't even spell.

Fuq him and his union. They're the reason GM/Chrysler are in the shape they're in.

I feel sorry for the many non-union workers that are going to suffer from this...not to mention all the blue-haired stock holders that have held forever.

+1. The unions served a purpose once upon a time, now they are openly as crooked and vengeful as the mobsters that once took care of them. F Unions, and their leftist enablers. Carlo Gambino would be pissed if he saw what his labor rackets have become .

I'VE MADE THE BIG TIME.............

Look guys I'm feeling generous.Big corporations health care and unions are all trying to make it work,Each recognizing the others needs. The coalitions that are out there are prevalent to establishing a united front against the misconceptions fostered by the ubers that control Internet political message boards.
You are under fire by the very organizations and corporations and political influences that you so vehimately defend as being in you sphere of knowledge and influence.
I dare say the times have passed you by.Your lack of knowledge and dated philosophy are inherent to you sociological and educational circumstance.
Unions are here to stay.Look for international union on a scale that rivals multinational business. On a scale that represents the major factions of the economy on a multinational scale.Across all economic and multinational divides.

Your lack of vision and intuitiveness is limited by your collective lack of knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of the modern union. It's purpose and intent as to it's message and fulfillment of the American dream.

Unions have helped put America in the craptastic position we are in now. I wish all the unions and their members had to file bankruptcy.

Certainly no more than corporate greed.

Also thank you for proving yet again the perceived ignorance relevant to political misconception.

yeah right.

I'd rather be dead or in jail than let some jackass with an 8th grade education claim to be my "voice" in dealing with management.

I mastered the whole they're/their thing a long time before eighth grade. Maybe I was just advanced or something.

It will be interesting to see how this all pans out. I don't think it is going to end well for anyone, and all parties involved will eventually be left out in the cold in one form or the other.

Corporations are not greedy. The role of the corporation is to make profit for the shareholders. End of story. Philanthropy and greed should be left to individuals.

Wonder why the Japanese auto manufacturers aren't unionized. Further, how on earth did they climb to the top of the auto world without the power of the awesome union process to help them. Must be that Shinto is just a stronger religion. Otherwise, our union laden, and unfathomably broke, auto makers would be kicking that ass.

Union losers are about to find out how far their "brothers" are willing to go to take care of them. They are going to be sorely disappointed, just like the aircraft mechanics recently found out.

I am unfamiliar when the last time a union member made a major decision at an auto company. Who has made the R&D decisions for the past thirty years? Who has made decisions about producing reliable and quality products?

The $70.00 per hour is a figment of right wing mythology. What is not a figment of anyone's imagination is Rick Wagoner walking away with a twenty million dollar golden parachute after doing immeasureable damage to GM.

This failure is completely on the back of senior management. They made all of the decisions including pay structure at all levels. The BOD has been a rubber stamp for management at GM as in most other major American corporations.

Union members that I have known are good Americans, somewhat unlike the derivative traders, mega-bank CEOs and rating agencies on Wall Street who brought the financial markets down.

Thats the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen posted about this matter. Its funny how there are facts to back up the $70 per hour figure, but you blow that off as right wing blather.

By making a better product, then refining it through R&D, thus making a great, reliable, barebones product for the masses, selling it at a low price, raking in the money, and using it to make their product even better, instead of using it to deepen some guy's wallet, and then taking in American subsidies to give Americans jobs.

It's their job to make great cars. Not to convince us that their cars are better than the competition when they aren't. GM did that for years upon years, and it's bit them so hard that when they actually put out a better product than the competition, their pleas fall on deaf ears. The unions are only a minor part of this.

1. Waggoner hasn't been in charge for 30 years.
2. With benefits, the pay is well above $70/hr.
