GM will not be able to pay back bailout.

I hear a lot of people say they will never buy a GM again because of the bailout. I don't understand that. I understand being upset with the people handing them out but why blame the company for taking it to survive if the government was dumb enough to give it to them?

Also, the group of people that praise Ford for not taking one act like the wouldn't have taken it if they were in the same shape as GM. Ford would have taken a bailout in a second if it meant saving the company from going under.

I could be wrong about this but I don't understand this whole idea of boycotting GM.

i think it's the fact that the GM unions own part of GM. the unions got a great deal. plus many share holders really got screwed thanks to unions.

Why not just boycott them because their products suck?

Ford didn't need one at all and GM didn't need it to survive. I feel no need to support the gov't with any more of my money.

This is true. GM had to be bailed out in part because of the unions. I hate unions, so GM gets no sympothy from me.

Nothing wrong with state-supported capitalism. Working a treat for China; worked a treat for the whole Western world post WWII.

Of course, it helps when the company, propped up by the taxpayer, actually does things like keeps jobs in America, pays its taxes, etc.

In the final grand irony, what's good for GM is certainly no longer good for America.

I agree it was stupid on the government's part. I'm not supporting the bailout at all, just don't know why people blame the company for accepting it.

I wouldn't blame a homeless man if someone walked up and handed them a thousand dollars and told them to go get a job and pay them back. I would think the person handing it to them were stupid. I guess that is how I see this.

We bought my wife a GMC Terrain in May. So far we really like it.

Now, in a couple of years when it's time for me to get a car, I'm sure I'll go with another Explorer.

not the same thing at all. They had other options and chose the easy one which was to reward the unions and screw the rest of the people

Y'all hate unions?

:epic facepalm:

Sigh, I know y'all are on here enough that you DON'T work 80 - 100 hours per week, but perhaps some of you need a year in those "pre-union" days....

The bailout WAS STRICTLY FOR THE LARGE SHAREHOLDERS IN GM.

GMAFB, P.

I truly believe almost 100% of all anti-union rhetoric from anyone outside the investment class is born of JEALOUSY.

If they would produce superior product and offer it at a fair market price they would be fine. That is never going to happen, and I've never been more comfortable typing the word never.

Their vehicles are $###.

Why do we need the unions around now? We don't-at least not in the auto industry.

Think of the children. Won't somebody think of the children?

GM also had terrible financial management and investing. We paid for their poor business practices.

This is just awesome. Should be posted after every one of your idiotic posts so people well know that you are just talking and have no idea what's coming out or you're fictitious. Either way, not worth much time beyond entertainment.
