GM will not be able to pay back bailout.

Acura NSX, 91-96, still my favorite car. There is some faster, a few that handle better, but I still love that car.

I drove a Nissan GT-R, INCREDIBLE! What's more incredible? The cost of maintenance. It's absolutely F'n ridiculous!

Brakes are 6k right?

I still say the old tl-s had the greatest manual transmission ever.

Since its AWD the gear boxes need to be serviced every 12k, or something like that. I don't remember everything because I was in complete shock as to what it would cost to drive it. If its your daily driver (which I know is not likely) it would cost an average of $750 to drive at 12k miles per year. That's above and beyond any financing.

Should have made it under the Infiniti symbol here.

Funny, I think the ES's drive themselves. The Infinity Q45 is much bigger, but is a much better driving car than any ES I've ever driven. To each his own.
Different categories. The ES was more of an entry level luxury sedan, the Q45 was always more of a budget competitor to BMW 7, Merc S and Lexus LS. Wish we could have picked up the Japanese version of the Nissan President which would have outshown all of them, but I doubt you could find anybody to spend $80k on an Infiniti.

NSX's are nice. Not great, just nice; legendary body shape, though.

GTR is absolutely incredible. The maintenance is expensive, but most people fail to consider the fact that they could buy a GT-R, spend the money for years of maintenance and still have thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars left over instead of buying similarly performing cars.

Cars it was faster than on the Top Gear test track: Lambo Murcielago, Merc SLR-McLaren, Ferrari 599, Ford GT, Audi R8 V10, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Vette Z06, etc. etc.

I disagree. The car doesn't feel like a luxury car in any way. Besides, I think enough people in the US are familiar with what the GT-R was to know that it would be a better fit under a Nissan badge. Ever since the late 80's, they've been David vs. Goliath budget supercars with all sorts of cutting edge stuff.

toyota built it's supercar under the lexus brand, and honda the nsx under acura.

OH MY ****ING GOD

The existing shareholders got NOTHING. The bondholders, the rightful owners of 100% of the company in a bankruptcy, got around 10%. The unions got 1/3 (which btw is illegal and unprecidented) and the govt got the rest.

exhibit Z you don't know CRAP.

First off, 99.99% of people can't afford the LFA, and it's pretty much being laughed at by the people who can; people with that much money don't respect the Lexus brand. There are many, many more cars that are superior at that price level.

The NSX was a decent MR design with an Accord engine, and was only sold under the Acura badge here; it was a Honda everywhere else. Even then, the reception outside of the US was lukewarm given the performance vs. the price tag.

Infiniti is known as the entry-level Japanese luxury brand, while Nissan is known worldwide primarily for cutting edge technology in their cars (except in the US, where we get the shaft on 90% of the cool stuff they make). With all the gadgets and Gran Turismo-style layout the GT-R has (the people who made Gran Turismo had a hand in some design aspects), it would have been downright confusing for people whom the Infiniti badge is normally aimed at. It is a far cry from the simplicity and luxury Infiniti normally has.

yeah, but the LFA could run circles around the NSX without breaking a sweat

It could, but you could also literally buy 10 NSX's for the price of one LFA.

Or alternatively, one could buy and import a Honda NSX-R GT from Japan, fully legalize it for US road use and make minor modifications that would have it beating the LFA on any road circuit in the world and still have about $100,000 left over.

speaking of importing cars, has it been 25 years since Porsche released the 959?

by today's standards, it's "slow", but wow, was it a gorgeous car.

a true classic.

as a side note, this is Porsche's 60th year in the U.S. market.
