I still think Peter Jackson's King Kong is the best "monster movie" I've seen. The original Jurassic Park is a very close second.

I was listening to Mike and Mike last week and Greenie was knocking that King Kong and after a few minutes admitted he hadn't actually scene it. Smh.

The first act could have been trimmed down some and I absolutely HATE the scene where Kong and Ann are sliding around on the ice in Central Park. However besides those 2 gripes, I think PJ's King Kong is stellar!

Article on things the '98 Zilla did better than the new movie:

https://movies.yahoo.com/news/godzilla-5-things-roland-emmerichs-1998-version-did-233400858.html

I can't agree totally with that list. I'd call Broderick and the Channing Tatum-wannabe a wash, as would I Broderick's girlfriend and the Olsen sister. Yes Broderick's girlfriend did more, but she was more annoying.

The Gojira namedrop was definitely better in the '98 movie tho. One thing they failed to mentioned was the '98 movie having humor, while the new one was completely dry. Legendary could've used some Jean Reno.

Sorry but the criticism of the movie is laughable. This Godzilla is definitely a superior product.

Saw it tonight. Thought it was pretty good. Definitely best Godzilla movie I've seen. Probably the best/most epic monster vs monster kill scene ever imo.

Godzilla was good, but not great. Would have loved to seen more fight scenes of the big guy and less human interest scenes.

Comic-Con: Let Them Fight! Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah to Appear in Godzilla Sequel!

Comic-Con: Let Them Fight! Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah to Appear in Godzilla Sequel!

Just announced in a new teaser at their Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Legendary Pictures have confirmed that the previously-announced sequel to Godzilla will once again be directed by Gareth Edwards and feature three classic monsters: Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah! Our own Ed Douglas described the teaser as follows:

“They showed a bunch of old newsreel footage similar to the opening credits but it was interspersed with the tag: “There is still one secret that remains hidden,” “There are others.” And then we see a shadow of what’s clearly Rodan with the words “Codename: Rodan.” Then they show the old Mothra with the title “Codename: Mothra,” and lastly…. “Codename: Ghidorah! Monarch Assessment: Conflict Imminent.” Followed by the words “LET THEM FIGHT”

Edwards also confirmed that he won’t return to direct the sequel until after his already-announced Star Wars spin-off film. No official release date has been set for the film.
