Hey Guys!

Plan on attending my very first Vol game this season

My work has discounts for the following games: Which one should I attend for my first game???

vs Austin Peay - Saturday, August 31, 2013
vs Western Kentucky -Saturday Sept. 7, 2013
vs South Alambama - Saturday, September 28, 2013
vs Vanderbilt - November 23, 2013

I know these are crappy games...but which game will allow me to experience "Neyland Stadium" :)

Austin Peay. There's an electricity around that first game of the year that is pretty amazing. Even if it is a team like Austin Peay.

I voted Austin Peay. There's just something about that first home game. For the true SEC Neyland experience, you need to see a SEC opponent.

Vandy could be a good choice as well because of what happened in Nashville last season. Watch the Volunteers whip that Candy a$$.

Go to the first game. Nothing like the opener after a long off season. When you add in the new coaching staff the electricity should be ramped way up.

Agree with others - 1st game always has an electric atmosphere to it. WKU may be fun too....should be lots of people showing up on motorcycles with their mistresses.

Electricity will be there for Austin Peay. However, it will also be there for the commode doors ... the other team from Nashville. I vote Vandy just because it is real football weather and an SEC game. Plus, Neyland will be FULL for Vandy.

The 1st game is always magical. That countdown turns from DAYS to HOURS to MINUTES and finally to SECONDS....then its here!....FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!

As others have observed, there is a lot to be said in favor of attending the season opener, especially since it will be the first game of the Butch Jones era. Big Orange fans will be primed to see the kickoff of "Butch ball" in Tennessee. However, start time is yet to be announced. With Austin Peay as the opponent, it certainly will not be a mid-afternoon game. One would hope that it will be a night game. Should it wind up being scheduled for a noon kickoff, however, late August heat and humidity is something to give consideration to in choosing between these four games. Even if the South Alabama game winds up at the same time slot as the Austin Peay, it should be a slightly more comfortable experience, given the fact that it will be four weeks later.

The first three games that you have listed should, of course, be guaranteed victories. Right now, Vanderbilt is not. The rivalry is hotter than it has been in some time and Butch's boys will be absolutely primed for revenge. Furthermore, I fully expect Butch to do his best to make it a statement game for the purposes of putting Vanderbilt in the rear view mirror as far as instate recruits are concerned. Needless to say, it will also be much cooler, more truly football weather.

Opener. No question. So much excitement for first game, plus we'll still be undefeated

Vandy or season opener. Both games will be W's...season opener might have a little more excitement around it. Also , you'd be able to witness the first game under our new long term coach.

The Peay being the first game, as previously mentioned, will be pretty fun. However, I may give a slight edge to a Petrino led WKU team being more "electric". I also think WKU will be a more competitive game. UT should name its score vs. APSU. Vandy will be a game to catch also..so, in short, my vote is between Western and Vandy.

Vandy...The first game of the season will be exciting but only for the first quarter and after We are up 28-0 or something along those lines you will hear a pin drop in the place...Vandy will be high energy throughout

This post is on the money. I have been to some early season games where it was so hot it was hard to stay in the stands. I vote Vandy for the SEC experience.

Depending on precisely how the season unfolds, the Vandy game could also be the one in which we attain bowl eligibility. Doing so at the Commodes' expense, hopefully in convincing fashion, would be delightful, given the trajectory of the last couple of years.

Definitely Vandy! Butch read the newspaper last season and knows that Tennessee fans are out for revenge against Vandy. It would be a perfect game to watch the beginning of another LONG winning streak against an opponent :dance2::rock:
