Going to Norman?

BTW - I’ve always thought it would be hilarious if we had a Volnation party before one of our games where everyone shows up wearing a T-shirt with a pic of their avatar on it so we know how to identify one another. Otherwise, it would be weird and awkward to introduce my self as “the original fade.....formerly known as fade route”

Would be fun. My wife has been on a tear with this vinyl cutting graphic device I bought her last year.

The main campus is bordered on the west by Elm St., on the East by Jenkin's, on the south by Lindsey, and on the north by Boyd. The stadium is at the corner of Lindsey and Jenkin's which is the SE corner of the main campus...so designated by the North and South ovals. South campus is south of Lindsey and the residential halls along Lindsey clear to Highway 9. LNC is on South campus, not on the main campus.

Just to eliminate any confusion with anyone heading out to Norman for their first time this fall, OU has a single campus in Norman and all buildings are on said campus. The stadium is on the north end of campus, the Lloyd-Noble Center (basketball arena with free parking) is on the south end of campus. About a mile away from each other.

Shuttle rides to and from the stadium go from the LNC to the stadium with a return trip as well post game.

Let's not get wrapped up in the technicality of what is "Main Campus/South Campus." It's all one continuous campus regardless of some arbitrary lines someone decided to create.

Following up: agree on motel south of Norman if coming up 35 from Dallas. You exit at highway 9 and enter the south campus area. Your band will be in section 35 along with your fans. Another visitors section is at the top of the NE corner of the stadium. Bricktown is a fully developed comprehensive entertainment district. I strongly recommend a visit to the OKC Bombing Memorial. The bar and restaurant area is called Campus Corner and it's on the North edge of the campus. The stadium is in the SE corner of the stadium. The Switzer Center is closed on GameDay. Heisman Park where the winner's statues are located is on the east side of the stadium. The Vol team buses will park on the south oval at the SW corner of the stadium.

What about purchasing spots to tailgate beside the stadium?

You guys were classy as well. Both in Norman and in Knoxville. We're honored to host ya'll again.

For those looking at hotel/motel arrangements that are having a hard time finding places in Norman/Moore/OKC, you might want to check Paul's Valley to the south of Norman. It's about a 30-40 minute drive up I-35 to the stadium parking areas and generally overlooked.
Hi OK - we'll be traveling to Norman in a motor coach convoy with about 6 or 7 other coaches and are really looking forward to it! Any recommendations for a place we can "circle the wagons" (park) for the weekend?

I may take the wife this year. Maybe.

IMO, it's worth making the trip for this game. I took my son last time against OU @ Norman and we had a great experience. Fan base was very pleasant, with the exception of a few intoxicated students after the game, but that's to be expected. Parking was relatively easy in and out of the campus. We were in the lower level corner and had good seats.

We didn’t have to...it was first come first serve.

Well that's different, we are bringing everything that we use for a home tailgate. TVs, slowcookers, grill, tables, canopies, etc. Unless it's a noon game then we will bring almost everything.

I honestly couldn't tell you specifically where a good RV site is (we do the hotel thing) but I do know the Sooner Village on campus is generally the spot a lot of folks "move" into on game days with their campers and whatnot.

SooneRVillage

Spots go fast from what I hear. Hope this helps.

I live in OKC so I'll definitely be there. If anybody has any questions about the area lmk
I’m getting my father tickets for his birthday which is July 7th. He and my brother in law have their private pilots license and planes so we will fly up and Uber to the hotel and game. Would love any hotel suggestions and also any advice on where to get tickets. Will be a group of 5-6 guys from my family and we will just be using Uber/taxi so a hotel within walking distance that is nice would be great info. I know I can google hotel but it’s always nice to hear from a local with insight

Planning on making the trip. My son was on staff at a church in Norman up until last year (now in Chattanooga area) and he usually had some pretty sweet hookups for tickets. I'm hoping he and I can cash in on that hookup one more time.

Admittedly, I honestly don't know anymore. I think mine is just appeasing me with her nod when I suggest such a thought.
It's translation of woman speak. The world over, women are the same and I know because I married a Czech woman.

A nod or approving "hmm" means: "Not really paying attention, but I'll probably be okay with it since it didn't cause automatic alarms in my brain."

"Yes" means: "I might change my mind in about three minutes, keep your options open."

"No" means: "No."

"Maybe" means: "No."

"Sure, whatever you want (or feel like)..." means: "Not any time or any way on this earth do I think you should do that and I'm going to be upset when you do."

Is Bricktown worth staying in? I've already booked a room there because it seemed to be the "entertainment" section of town but sometimes those areas can actually be dead or in transition (aka sketchy).
There is nothing sketchy about Bricktown. Plenty to do from gondola rides to music and entertainment.
