Gone but not forgotten: Knoxville area restaurants and retailers we miss.

Staying in the Cedar Bluff area what was the huge sports bar in that shopping center?

Also, anyone remember Julio's Between the Buns? We used to watch NFL football there every Sunday back in the mid 90's.

I mainly remember Julios for their sponsorship at Cherokee hockey games and flying a banner over Neyland that said "Phil Likes It Between The Buns!"

Celebration Station (but I thought he was joking about the indoor go-kart placed that just closed).

I was. Although Celebration Station was fun to visit on occasion.

Julios is still there, just called Paul's Oasis now. And Paul redid the inside. No more lockers. I think the boxing ring is still standing.

Awesome!

They had a boxing ring with tables and chairs. It was quite the place...as mentioned by Dr. RosenRosen

Here's one... in Powell, called Hamers. Was a thrift type store... locals called it going to Macy's when they shopped there. Could be still there not sure.

The original Hammers was “downtown” Clinton. It had multiple levels, with the men’s clothing on the middle floor. Those streets are where I grew up. I played basketball at Clinton and we’d alternate practice times with the girls. My mom didn’t get off work until 5, so days when we had late practice I’d skateboard all around town after school. That was back when Burger King had cheese sticks for $1. Memories...

Spicy's... Best wings ever.

All you could eat on Thursday for around $8...wouldn't eat the whole day before and paid for it the day after.

Also had Killians on tap, which was awesome in an age with very little craft beer.

Is the Spicey’s on Emory Rd not open anymore?

I’m stunned and delighted that lazer quest is still in business.

Man, I miss q-zar.

And since i mentioned it earlier...the Knoxville Cherokees. Ice Bears are fine (they actually deserve a better arena), but I used to love some Kees games.

The Wendy’s Magic Minute was the best. Score during that minute...everybody gets a free single. The drunks loved that.

Discovery Zone was great.

Cincinnati had the forerunner called Leaps and Bounds. It was even better...several years less of insurance and litigation influenced changes and safety measures. It was awesome. We’d go there when we visited friends in NKy when I was a kid.

I wonder if the old Ramada Inn across from West Town will ever be open again. It's probably approaching an economic demolition since the hobos have invaded it and likely torn the crap out of the inside. On the other hand, being next door to the Highway Patrol has maybe slowed it down slightly as a crime attraction.

I don't know, there's a niche market for pretty much anything. "Concierge, can you send a vagrant up to room 227?" I could see the appeal (no hobo).

I spent my early childhood in Cincinnati and I LOVED leaps and bounds.

Is that the one that used to be a Howard Johnson?

There was a HoJo about a block west of the old Ramada. I don't know if that Ramada across from West Town was originally a different chain or not. The Ramada that's been closed for several years is the large building in the lower right corner of the attached picture.
