Good horror?

Long legs was pretty good. Not the best horror but it definitely was dark
It was decent. Obviously had Silence of the Lambs feel but stayed just different enough which is good at it’s not on that level movie-wise. I didn’t feel like I wasted my time though.

Agreed I thought cage was over the top but provided good horror. Horror is a hard sell. They did good enough to keep my eye. I liked all the other characters

100% agree. You have any other newish horror movies you like?

In a violent nature was pretty brutal. If you are into that kind of horror.
I appreciate all kinds. I probably like supernatural the best, a good ghost/demon story like The Conjuring, The Exorcist, Hereditary, etc. but I appreciate a good monster flick, good home invasion, good slasher, whatever.

Have you seen irreversible? It’s a real hard one to watch.

Just watched Life (2017), a space horror. Seemed like a great idea and decent cast with Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds.

However, it is irritating to watch. Apparently, whoever makes staffing decisions for space stations in this movie's universe, thought putting characters on an orbital platform with the mental capacities of Lucy and Ethel would be the way to deal with the potential existence of threatening alien life forms. And to top it off, the method for dealing with said existence is to send up a space craft to push it off into deep space, but inconveniently leaving the hatch unlocked so one of our Lucy/Ethel characters can let the space monster into it. That did not turn out well for the unsuspecting Soviet crew.

An example of the ridiculousness: as the Soyuz is approaching (to dock mind you!), in the entirety of the space station, there are no working radio communications. Lucy/Ethel are reduced to trying flash Morse code with what looks like a two C-cell battery flashlight to warn the Soviet crew. And we know the end result of that: Ricky and Fred die.

Could have been vastly better.

Yeah, horror movies more than most tend just insert nonsensical things to move the plot, even the good ones. Aliens is one of my favorite movies and I don't just mean in the genre but WTF would you commit the entire crew to leave the main ship? (we could do this all day...or week...or month)

Geico had the great commercial where the blond asks the group running from danger why don't they leave in the running car.

I think the lack of this is what made the original Halloween such a success. Laurie Stode didn’t do anything stupid

The absolute best is "let's split up so we can cover more ground". Lol.

You generally can’t think too much with horror movies, or really any movies these days. Just watch for the entertainment.

Thinking about it, in  Predator the guys didn't really do anything stupid. Even Billy performed a sacrifice for the group.
There was some minor stupid. Carl Weathers and the guy he was with did split up. They didn’t quite know what they had at the time though and those dudes were bad asses! I love the original Predator. Perfect 80s action movie.

Watched  Howl this past weekend on Prime. It proves even the British aren't any better at escaping werewolves than Americans are at escaping slashers.
Good?

Edit: That was already proven with American Werewolf in London. Yes, it was an American werewolf but not the one who bit him!

Eh, decent. Some good scare moments mixed in with absolute lunacy (pun intended).
Decent?? AWIL is more than decent! Imo it's still to this day the best werewolf movie ever made. The makeup effects still look fantastic and the werewolf itself, it still holds up! The fact you don't see much of it is what makes those scenes so intense! But even when you do see it, you totally buy into it! AWIL is a 5 star, 10 out of 10 essential must own horror movie IMO!

We were talking about Howl.

Well.....ok then! Carry on! Lol!
And I agree about AWIL.

Funny story about that movie. It scared the crap out of me. Got back to my apt and went through it with my pistol out and when my roommate arrived later, he had a good laugh when I told him why every light in place was on.
