Good horror?

I would say Viking Wolf is not a must-see, but if this genre is your jam, then they do a pretty fair job of keeping up the suspense and horror.
I assume it’s a werewolf movie. I do like a good vampire or werewolf movie. It’s not what I go to first but I appreciate all different forms of horror. I do think monster movies are tough to make good but there some good ones out there. I still enjoy watching The Lost Boys, The Howling, and others.

Yes. Well, you probably would like this one, then

I watched Jeepers Creepers with my son the other night. I MIGHT have watched it back when it came out but honestly I didn't remember anything about it. Aside from possibly the most unlikeable female protagonist ever, the movie was alright. Dumb, but alright.

Smile 2 was pretty good. I liked it better than the first, story was a little deeper. I'm hoping they wrap up the series with the 3rd one, at least that's how it seems to be setting up.

I hear 3 is in production/pre so hope is out there. What direction they take it will be interesting. The tie in from 1 to 2 was done so well. Hope they can keep that going

I recently watched "The VVitch" and thought it was fantastic. But I'm really into folk horror like "Midsommar" and "The Lighthouse".

"Malignant" is another I've watched recently that I really enjoyed.

I haven't even caught it yet myself but was told if I liked The Witch to check out Lord of Misrule. Interestingly also stars Ralph "the voice" Ineson.

If LoM is what I’m thinking of then I don’t get the comparison to The Witch at all. The movies aren’t anything alike.

I don't get the love for Midsommar. Never found it scary. Seemed silly.
I think critics like more than the average movie fan.

I don't think it is scary in the traditional "ahhh!!" sense, but more unsettling and atmospheric/creepy. Reminds me of the OG Wicker Man.

I agree it’s not remotely scary and even some parts are purposefully funny but I love a lot of little things about it so I do enjoy it very much. It’s quite the contrast from Hereditary, which is by the same director. Both are excellent but in very different ways.

The opening scene from Midsommar is extremely unsettling. I loved the movie.

As for a newer horror I really like The Substance. Im excited for The Presence, the new POV Sodenbergh film
I watched The Substance on Amazon Prime last night. It's being referred to as "body horror." I thought it was very good. More sad than scary.

Awesome! Don’t think I’ve seen The Substance so I’ll definitely check that out. When does The Presence come out?

Lately I’ve watched:

The Righteous - it was decent but not spectacular so I’d watch it if you’re out of other things.

A Dark Song - I had seen it before but it had been a while. If you like occult/ritualistic movies you’ll like it but definitely slow and weird. I like it alright though.

From Black - Similar to my comments above. I like the From Black story better but A Dark Song is executed a little better. Similar movies though.

Body Melt - very bizarre Australian movie. It’s kind of like watching a wreck. I want to look away but I find myself wanting to keep watching for some reason. All of the above are better (at least before I watch the last 15 minutes) but if you want some B movie body horror with 90s special effects and a bunch of Australian accents this is for you.
