Ah, for the days when every Gomer fan blamed every completion on "that dayum mustannnng packej".

Exactly. I'm beginning to think our fans know less about football than any other in the nation. Pure idiocy

I would have loved to have 3rd and Chavis over what we had to suffer through this year.

Always good to see LSU get beat. Their offense blew all year. Clemson exposed LSU.

What was exposed? Everyone knew LSU's defense was damned good and their offense blew chunks. Everyone knew Miles is an idiot.
So what in the hell was exposed?

They have been relying on their defense all year and their offense has done just enough to win games. It did not work against Clemson. Miles is an idiot but a lucky idiot. Not this time.

Why do people constantly cite being on the field too many plays as a valid excuse for a defense, and a conviction of the offense? The offense has to maintain drives, but the defense has to stop them. Pisses me off to see super soft corners when trying to close out a game, on any level. Tighten up and give safety help.

This may have already been posted, but watching yesterday's LSU game brought back some bad memories of 3rd & Chavis. For the life of me, I can't see why the Chief continues to run his "prevent" defense" when his normal defense is so dominating. That 4th and 16 play was very reminiscent of many UT games in the past that allowed teams that were beaten back into the game. Another great example is Bama's last drive when they played LSU. You would think he could see this simply doesn't work - anywhere. I'm still mad because I hate Clemson.

I will pound Chavis all day long for his defense but last night wasn't his fault. The offense lost that game. Anyone who says different doesn't know football.

You're not the only one who noticed the trend but be prepared to get flamed for pointing it out.

It reminds me of a certain chubby Italian.

When it is 4th & 16 and all you have to do is stop them from making a 1st down to win the game, offense won't help you. When Bama has to go 80 yards in less than a minute to win the game and they score a touchdown virtually untouched, offense is not the problem.

That 4th and 16 play was te perfect defense. He was tripled covered by 2 yards. Pass was just on a dime.

Also, that Bama game was called perfectly by him. When they scored, it was perfect timing to call a blitz. Bama just lucked up and called a screen

But.....................................,

did his defense not win two national championships, one at UT and one at LSU?

It was not his fault that LSU could not get 1st down. It was his fault he was soft the last minute.
