Good point on the radio last night. Pay up and hire a really GOOD coach

Garcia wasn't the starter opening week. They put him in because Shaw did terrible against ECU. Shaw ended up winning the starting job after Garcia's terrible Vandy performance. Spurrier doesn't cut Garcia if Shaw didnt win the job. That SC team last year wiped the floor with Clemson and Nebraska. The 09 team lost to a 7-5 UGA team, a 7-5 Arky team, and a 7-5 UConn team. Come on now.

We were blown out because of the clawfence. If Cutcliffe stays, UT wins a lot more than 5 games in 2008. Cutcliffe leaving for Duke what ultimately destroyed Fulmer. Kiffin had a lot of talent on O, the Sullins bros were terrible against great teams, but we only played against 2 great teams that year UF and Bama.

I don't think Kiffin or Chaney are good OCs in the SEC. Chaney would be a lot better in the big 12 or pac 12 and Kiffin is where he belongs, yet he is still finding ways to lose.

Kiffin still put up superior numbers against teams that Chaney has really struggled. And I wouldn't say that Kiffin had a lot of talent on O. At least not compared to what Dooley has. We probably have better WR's right now than what Kiffin had. Stocker/Rivera is probably a wash. Kiffin was better of at RB. I would take Hardesty over all our backs combined. Kiffin worked miracles with Crompton in about 10 weeks. Chaney has had Bray for 3 years and we're in about the same place as we were.

You do realize I said nearly right?

Considering Dooley was the only other football coach he hired, I would say that's the only thing that matters. Hamilton would've offered any great coach a blank check if they showed interest after the kiffin debacle. There was no great coach that wanted it. If you have a legitimate name at that time that would've came, I would love to hear it.

Of course UT's offense is better now then it was with Kiffin, but Kiffin still had a lot to work with and a much more talented defense. Kiffin and Chaney both did great things with Crompton, he has always been good at qb, but Crompton was and is a talented qb. He would have been considered a solid UT qb if Cut never left. Crompton wouldn't still be in the NFL if he wasn't talented. Chaney is not all to blame last night, Bray did not play well. Driskell looked better than Bray last night.

And it doesn't seem like anything has been learned from the last 2 hires. Same story different channel.

I don't understand...What is your point? Are you slamming our new coach ...now?
Do you really think that is equivalent to Dooley JR?

Why bump a thread from September?

if kiffin stayed we would be celebrating our 3rd win over uf. Bray would be WAY more developed. and the play calling would be tailored to our strengths. We would be a cocky 60 min team also. We beat everyone in the east that year except # uf with tebow. we would have been in atl at least twice. he was thought well enough to take over usc, which is a powerhouse program. it was a good hire just bad timing. but we need that kind of loaded staff again. YES!!

Kiffin will be fired by this time next year, he is a 7-5 and 8-4 coach........He had to make his dad step down at DC, to save his job this year, and he is a PR and NCAA nightmare.

It was a god gift that he left us when he did IMO.

When considering Kiffin as a coach, I have a hard time getting past UT getting plastered by Ole Miss and the Peach Bowl rout. Fast forward to USC and it becomes quite evident his strengths start and end with recruiting. Everything else leaves a great deal to be desired.

Excepting Layla, of course...he does have that going for him.

How many teams have been ranked #1 preseason and then went on to lose 5 games and not be ranked? Kiffin can't coach!

Bama did it. Miles keeps getting paid! Uf will always pay their coaching staff! To get a good coach you have to look 3.5 and up range. Also you have to be ready to pay top 3 salary range for assistants. It pays off. Any business man knows that. We can't keep paying 2 mill for a so so coach and give him a small budget to get lower tier coaches in here. We need the coordinators like Dan Mullen used to be, Charlie Strong used to be, Jimbo FIsher used to be. etc, etc. Give the program the tools to succeed. It's obvious this isn't going to work. Maybe Hart will change this.

Yeah because LSU was like, "Hey let's dish out big bucks for this big name coach.. Les Miles. He's 28-21 at Oklahoma State."

Or did you ever think that maybe coaches build up their legacy.. Nick Saban did it at LSU first, THEN Bama.. Before LSU, Nick was just another Butch Jones.

giving these obscene, multi-million buyouts and long-term contracts to new, unproven coaches----beyond insanity.

Name five coaches you would have hired.

Nick Saban, Les Miles, Brian Kelly, Urban Meyer, & Mark Richt are not options. No one is leaving a top tier program for UT when the program is at rock bottom. And Jon Gruden never wanted this job.

So go ahead, name five coaches. You can't give someone $5M per year if they won't take the darn job.

Underrated post imo.
