I definitely don't think the punishment fit the crime in this case. With Jr.'s penalty, they messed with fixed bolts, that NASCAR specifically said do not touch, that held the rear wing upright. They adjust those bolts, they adjust that rear wing. They did not make that car start at the rear of the field in Darlington and sit out an entire practice session. In these 2 cases, not only did they miss an entire practice and qualifying session, but they were messing an area of the car that NASCAR has no specific rules about. The template grid that the inspectors sit on the car has points that the teams cannot touch, and these teams were messing with an area in between those points on the fender. There are no specific rules about the area they were adjusting. I think the crew chiefs should have been suspended, but not for 6 races, maybe 3. I don't mind the fines and points, they will be fine with the chase. I just don't think the crew chiefs should have suspended for 6 races and the crimes were not as intentful as the ones that Jr's team pulled. Just my opinion.
