Gorsuch refuses to mask up

Hospital my wife works at has mandated they all have to wear N95s. Some of the sheople meekly do it, but a ton of them are pissed off about it. She's not happy.

So the other 7 resumed wearing masks at the exact same time that Sotomayor went back to remote and it was all spontaneous and unprompted?

Court seems poised to block vaccine-or-test policy for workplaces but may allow vaccine mandate for health care workers - SCOTUSblog

That seems unlikely to me.

Just posting an alternative reporting of this situation. I also find it unlikely that Roberts or Sotomayor directly requested Gorsuch wear a mask and he flat out refused. Could be others wore masks now since Omicron was so rampant but in past sessions the daily case rate was not nearly so high.

Maybe we'll find out more.

Joint statement. Notice how it is drafted - says that Sotomayor never requested Gorsuch to wear a mask. It does NOT say no request was ever made of Gorsuch (as would be the case if the request came from Roberts or anyone else). Lawyers gonna lawyer.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!🤡

The original reporting was that Roberts requested that all the justices mask up. Gorsuch declined to do so. This is a non-denial denial.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! 🤡🤡

It’s a joint statement by both Justices at the center of it. It clearly states the reporting is false. And you’re clearly FOS as usual cat lady.

No, it only says the reporting that Justice Sotomayor asked Gorsuch to wear a mask is false. But the NPR story was that the request came from Roberts. They know though that knuckledragging rubes like you will take it to be a full-throated denial when it isn't.

From the article that kicked off the thread:

"NPR reports that after Sotomayor made clear she felt vulnerable amid an Omicron-driven surge in cases, Chief Justice John Roberts asked the other justices to wear a mask on the bench. All of them did except Gorsuch, who also happens to sit next to Sotomayor, according to NPR."

The statement clearly points to “the reporting” being false. “It is false”. But by all means keep spinning your BS 🤣

Seems like a strong stance to take. Sounds like there's more to the story than what is being presented. Here's the NPR comment

"Roberts “in some form” then asked the other justices to wear masks, Totenberg reported. "

That's a pretty wishy washy statement - what on earth does "in some form" mean?

Gave you a like for not pretending like it’s completely normal behavior to tell your colleagues to shove it when you’re approached about voluntarily wearing a mask in the workplace.

“It is false.”

"The reporting THAT ..." defines the particular reporting they're talking about. Here, they specifically limited the reporting to the reports that Sotomayor had asked Gorsuch to wear a mask. They could have easily said "The reporting that Gorsuch had been asked, but declined, to wear a mask is false." They didn't choose that more categorical denial.

But hey, like I said, they know the knuckledraggers like you will swallow it hook, line, and sinker.

The story has some timeline issues. It's reported that Sotomayor's decision to remote in was made prior to Gorsuch showing up sans mask. The statement from G and S indicates she never asked him to mask up. It's not clear what Roberts "in some form" even means.

So Sotomayor would have to have heard from Gorsuch that he was not going to mask up prior to the session so she could choose not to attend if that was her reason to remote in.

I suppose that's possible but it doesn't jibe well with the statement from G and S.
