Gotham (FOX) will feature Commissioner Gordon & GPD!

Wow! What a first episode! Some of the stuff the kid said in interviews were true. That he will become the Batman this season if only in persona! The way he talked Gordon into doing what the Penguin wanted it was almost Spock-esq "The needs of the many (Gotham) out way the needs of the One (Gordon).

Cameron Monaghan might end up being the best on-screen Joker we have seen by the end of the series. I wonder if his relationship with Barbra impresses a type of female companion on him that eventually leads to his twisted relationship with Harley in the future?

I agree..... I love the guy they have playing Joker. And you could really see a batman type attitude starting to develop

Monaghan is a fantastic actor, he's great on Shameless and this.

This could be really good!

COURT OF OWLS Coming To GOTHAM

COURT OF OWLS Coming To GOTHAM

The second season of Fox's Gotham began Monday evening, delving deeper into the past of Batman's signature city. And according to showrunner Bruno Heller, one new addition to DC lore will be coming to roost in the show: the Court of Owls.

"Yeah, absolutely," Heller told ComicBook when asked. "I won't say that it's part of-- I don't even want to say that, because I don't want to spoil part of the story. The Court of Owls is deep, deep, deep Gotham mythology."

"We are absolutely going to explore that world down the line," the showrunner added. "Looking at the longevity of the show, we have to hold some cards back, we can’t just throw all of the elements, all of the story at once.”

That is the most vivid portrayal of the Joker I've ever seen. Last year when he broke into that smile after getting busted as his Mom's murderer? Didn't need makeup or props...just BECAME the insane.

This should come as no surprise to anyone because all gingers are psycho.

Holy crap indeed. Such a great episode. The Penguin stole the show last year, and this is definitely shaping up to be Jerome/Jokers season this year. The roulette scene was great. The scene with the commish was awesome. His last scene, holding the camera, was intense. So many great lines and great timing in delivering them. He is what the Joker should be too me, over the top silliness wrapped in complete madness. Jack was one and Heath was the other, Cameron is pulling off both brilliantly so far.

I also think he has brought a little of the quirky mannerisms that the Joker had in Batman The Animated Series as well as some of the voice inflection that Mark Hamill did so well.

I can count several people in this thread that aren't going to like this latest episode.

I had heard when they introduced him last year that he wasn't who we were thinking. Figured that was deflection with his performance...definite plot twist. Feels like a recent Vols game aftermath.

I'm just so disappointed! So much so that unless I change my mind, I'll probably wait and catch the rest of season on-demand or wait for the season release on Blu-ray.

Did Gotham jump the shark last night? Twitter #Gotham was brutal last night. Today Gotham writers @GothamTVWriters are trolling angry fans. It will be interesting to see how the ratings shakeout after next weeks episode.

I'm currently working my way through season 1 on Netflix. I really like this show, but I wonder if it is going to be like Smallville, which dragged on for 10 seasons before showing viewers what they wanted to see, Superman flying, not just running fast and such. I realize Gotham is about Gordon, but Gordon's relationship with Batman is a critical part of the lore.

How would that be considered jumping the shark? It's already been talked about in this very thread that the creators always planned to tease the identity of the Joker and that there would be multiple times people thought they knew who was going to end up in that role but they'd probably be wrong. Plus, they laid it out with the foreshadowing when his dad was "prophesying" his impact on Gotham.

If you don't like it because you liked the actor, that's one thing but, for someone who pays attention to this show (and seemingly every show, ever), this really shouldn't have come as that big of a surprise. And, from a storytelling point of view, the impact and future influence of what happened last night would make a lot more sense as something that leads to the eventual real thing down the road.
