Gotham (FOX) will feature Commissioner Gordon & GPD!

Yes. I thought this was miles better than Agents of SHIELD, just to use a reference.

It's basically going to cover the formative years of all of the principal players in the Batman universe - something I think will hold viewers. I do agree that they were over aggressive in introducing so many characters in the first episode.

Any word on how the 1st episode did nationally?

SHIELD had a rough start with just some bad episodes then all of a sudden it really got good. Like somebody was paying attention and stepped it up. It might have been Joss Whedon or someone else that actually cared.

Gotham opened to 8.1 million viewers.

Watched the pilot and thought it was okay. My wife dubbed it the Once Upon a Time for boys.

Awesome. Awesome and more awesome. Cobblepot is fantastic. Gordon and his partner have that love-hate relationship and each episode keeps getting better. I'm hooked.

That kid is awesome in the Penguin role. So glad Walking Dead didn't keep him around, so he could do this role.

Was he the kid Carol and Rick found in the house along with the girl and then they both got killed shortly after?

The show seems like it's written for kids honestly, which makes sense since it airs at 8pm. Parts of it seem kind of absurd like his partner Harvey beating and yelling at everyone right in the middle of the police station. The only interesting scenes have been the interactions between Gordon and Bruce, Gordon and Cat, and Penguin.

Yes sir.

Harvey is painful to watch, so is Jada they are very over the top. But written for kid's? Where did you grow up, Detroit?

Gotham is supposed to be over the top. The criminals control everything, which is what eventually gives rise to the Batman. Gordon is such a unique character in the Batman mythos because he somehow lives through the corruption while staying pure of heart himself.

It's a show based off a comic book. It's set in a world of fantasy where the rules are different. If you want realism, watch Law & Order reruns. This show has stayed true to the identity of Gotham set forth in the comics.

Honestly Coug, if you think Harvey is absurd, what are you going to think if they ever show Bruce donning the cowl for the first time? This show isn't meant to portray our reality.

That's the other thing I had to remember was the older batman movies. If you compare those to this particular show they're both somewhat similar in the sense that they're absurd. The show screams pre-Nolan batman.

Even Nolan's Batman has its roots in this Gotham. Why did Ras want to destroy Gotham? Because it had become a city infested by evil and corruption.

I've enjoyed it so far. The only gripe I have so far is why are they using the dollmaker as the first villan Gordon goes after? Isn't he a New 52 villan?

The show is meant to be an origin for most of Batman's major villains (and allies) so I wouldn't expect Gordon to be chasing any well established Batman villains. We've already seen him interact with the future Penguin, Catwoman, Riddler, and Poison Ivy.

I understand that, I just found it odd that they'd go for a New 52 villan instead of a earlier Gotham villan.

I think you misunderstand what I am saying. I get that Gotham and it's people are over the top. You can be over the top without coming across as bad acting, which is what those 2 do. IMO Maybe it's just the guy playing Harveys acting style, he got on my nerves in Blade as well.

As far as the show, I prefer this to Batman...I ****ing hate Batman...but his criminals are damn topnotch.
