Gotta say I feel sorry for Bronny James…

I came up with it by having watched Lebron James and Rick Barnes for several years, and my opinion is that they would not coexist very well.

I do not think Barnes is afraid of Lebron and I do not think Lebron is anything other than a great parent who puts his kids first...and that means not acting a fool, which he hasn't. Bronny is a role player who has rode a lot of bench over the years at Sierra Canyon. Whatever read you think you have on Lebron, you are wrong about this.

My Bronnie lies over the ocean
My Bronnie lies over the sea
Well, my Bronnie lies over the ocean
Yeah, bring back my Bronnie to me
Yeah, bring back, ah, bring back
Oh, bring back my Bronnie to me, to me
Ah, bring, oh, bring back, ah, bring back
Oh, bring back my Bronnie to me

Bronnie is a big gurl...

The people who have formed an opinion on Bronny have not seen him live and have based it on disagreeing with his dad's politics....
I don’t disagree with most of LeBron’s politics. But I do think he’s a helicopter dad and I can see that and just the hype of being Bronny James (see that extra n there? It’s not Brony) causing unwanted distractions for coaches.

I don't disagree with you about LeBron being a helicopter dad at times. He has showed that side previously on the summer circuit. LeBron has got players traded and coaches fired in the NBA. Those are all true statements.

But there are a lot of people hoping Bronny fails just because of his dad. They aren't hard to spot...

I don’t want him to fail and I’ve only seen him in limited action, mostly highlights. Don’t think I’d want the hassle and show of it all.

But there definitely are those that you describe

You will need a coach that is strong and secure enough to stand up to him just in case. Izzo, Self, etc. LeBron's legacy would be a little different if Pat Riley caved in while LeBron was in Miami

I don't even know how we could tell if Lebron is a helicopter parent? What evidence is there? Because he spends time with him and goes to a lot of games? Pretty sure my parents think I'm a helicopter parent. It's all relative.

When my kids were born (c-section) I was in the hospital with my wife basically the full 2.5 days. My Mom couldn't believe it. She said she thinks Dad was never there more than a half hour at a time for any of the 6 kids. LMAO

But I think Bronny needs that and wants that. He needs a coach who isn't going to sucker up to him because of who is dad is. He has received a ton of the limelight due to his Dad, but I get the sense he also wants to prove he belongs. Going to Ohio State is only going to put more pressure on him to be like his Dad. I also.think Barnes would have been up for the challenge

There are usually two types of athletes that follow their parent's success & stardom.

1. They try to live up to their name and usually cannot. No fault of their own. Sometimes they surpass their parents.

2. They create their own path. This is something the Mannings have done for the most part.

I think Bronny realizes he isn't his dad. Just from a physical standpoint. Lebron is an extremely rare athlete that comes around ever so often and he basically has every record in the book. If Bronny accepts that he probably will never be as good as his father (99.9% that have every played are not) then I think he can forge his own path to stardom.

Bronny is nowhere near what his dad was coming out of HS. I am by no means a Lebron fan but when he came out of HS he was infinitely better than any HS player and extremely dominant. That’s not Bronny. I do feel sorry for him as well. Knowing who your dad is and playing the same sport? You are going to be under the biggest microscopes ever.

And his dad is not helping by saying he wants to play at least 1 year with him on the same NBA team.
Correct, his Dad is a big reason for the massive expectations when he’s out there acting like it’s a forgone conclusion the guy is
A. Going to make an NBA team B. Play meaningful minutes in the NBA int he next couple of years

He’s now a 5* on On3 and top 40 - 4* on most other sites yet his offers consist of OSU, USC, Memphis, NC Central and NC A&T. Are people staying away from him because of dad? How does a top 40 kid have 3 “major” offers and from a basketball history standpoint, Memphis might be the best.

So you completely missed when ESPN and the vast majority of sports publications did stories when the kid narrowed his list of schools to the final group as if he was the make or break recruit of the class?

People are tracking the recruitment of a 5 star recruit and that necessitated a thread about...what exactly?
