I disagree. I think you do a disservice to teams when you manipulate the seedlings to avoid certain matchups. Just seed the teams how you think they should be seeded and let the matchups fall the way they should. One scenario I saw had us playing Georgia and the winner playing Oregon. Worst case - should not allow teams in same conference play each other in the first two rounds.
You said no conference matchups in the first two rounds. The SEC Champion will get a bye and be waiting for the winner of one of the first round games. Therefore, another SEC team couldn’t be in that particular game because if they won, it would be SEC at-large vs SEC champion in round 2x. So, four SEC teams max using that rule.5? Conf champ with a bye then the 4 first round games could each have one. Not advocating for it. Just working the math
I don’t like the auto byes for conference champs anymore either. When we truly had a Power 5 ok but now it’s a Power 2 with a big gap. Just seed them how they should be seeded and the top 4 get byes. If you want to guarantee a spot for the top 4 conference champs then ok but not a top 4 seed unless it’s earned.I disagree. You can’t do that for 2 rounds. First round maybe but I’m with BostonVol on this one. Don’t worry about conferences. Seed them appropriately and the chips fall where they fall. One scenario I saw had us playing Georgia and the winner playing Oregon. I agree with you. Your rank should determine your seed. No other tourney I know of rewards mediocrity so why the CFP?I don’t like the auto byes for conference champs anymore either. How about UGA loses to Texas, then we swap places and they come here. I know it isn’t likely but that would be cool.Who cares. Beat the team in front of you and move on. We haven’t run into a team yet that has shown they can blow us out of we play well.
We have the horses and the coaching. If we play a clean and complete game we can beat any team in the country. GBO!!!
I would love that! Or they drop out altogether and someone has to come to K-Town.How about UGA loses to Texas, then we swap places and they come here. I know it isn’t likely but that would be cool.
I think they may end up playing each other in round 1.Between Indiana’s opening drive against Ohio State and their final drive in which Ohio State was playing soft with a 23 point lead, Indiana had eight possessions and 6 yards. Indiana is not better than Penn State.
Though both are overrated.
I didn’t say anything. I just quoted you to do the math. Meaning you weren’t responding to me in this thread. I did not set those parameters of no conf champ. And he did not say that anyway. It’s 5 max in the playoffs for the first round. When the sec champ plays it is the second round by default. That’s why or is called a bye week. You said no conference matchups in the first two rounds. Winning your conference should mean something though. What better way than to reward the winners with a first round bye?I don’t like the auto byes for conference champs anymore either. It would still. They’re rewarded with a spot. And the criteria can include some kind of bump for being champ like they do now. If you have 2 comparable resumes but one is a champ and one isn’t then the champ gets the better seed. Past that it shouldn’t mean anything for the playoffs other than bragging rights, rings and merchandise. There is far too much difference in the conferences now to be giving a top 4 seed and bye to the ACC, Big 12, or a Group of 5 champ unless they have a resume deserving of the spot.Winning your conference should mean something though.
