Government Shutdown.

I don't think it does. Don't think it worked out too well the last time

Oh no. We won't be able to go to the park.

The government will still be doing more than what I want it to do. The military will be operational, the state department will be operational and congress will be operational. We will need these to deal with the Libya situation. Rather than turning this into an emotional ploy to fell sorry for the workers that aren't getting paid. This should be an eye opening opportunity to see how much cheaper and smaller the government could be.

Wouldn't it be nice to debate and have a vote before re-opening each of the government organizations that get shut down?

That's my gut. My Dad works for SSA, and they were told yesterday to prepare for it, though.

law enforcement and veterans services would also be affected. This isn't just about parks

it's definitely a possibility (and one I think the Dems would welcome) but these newbies in Congress should look at past lessons

Are you for real? I was talking about the effect it had on Repubs when they did it back in 1995. But keep cheering for it and you'll get 4 more years of making nonsensical threads about the Muslim in the WH

How do you figure the Repubs would get tagged for it this time? Just curious.

Seems to me a large number of voters sent conservatives into office to stop the fiscal bleeding and are seeing every dirty tactic in the book being used to thwart their desires, all the while they are struggling to keep their homes, pay for their energy and food needs and cling to their employment. If I were a conservative in office, I'd be confident in playing the game of chicken w/ the Dems this time around.

had they not just done the same in 94? Granted Newt was a moron last time but I still think Congress is seen as controlling the purse and would get blamed if people are hurt. Plus the Pres has the "it wasn't me" act down to a science

exactly. and it goes to his message that all the republicans want to do is stop things from happening.

I wouldn't vote for a Democrat to save my life (as least in the foreseeable future) so my opinion doesn't really count and isn't considered by the libs in any way. That being said, doing nothing is exactly what I want done.

Good point, and now I'm disappointed in the American people again.

doing nothing is better than obama's doing something, but sooner or later the unions are goign to have to be contained. otherwise we become greece or ireland.
