Grading the new CFB hires....

Gundy was a PR move by the UTAD to calm the Vol fans because we were about to meet at the UC and burn it all to the ground.

Mullen picked Florida despite hating Gainesville. It’s documented his wife didn’t like dealing with Gators day to day the last time they were there. We could have enticed him here though our reds would probably drive her crazy, too.

I get it. Your opinion is that Pruitt is the very best coach we could have hired and I just disagree there.

Not a thing wrong with disagreeing. Not everyone is gonna agree on the same thing. I don't think Mullen is a strong enough recruiter to have gotten the players here he would have needed. Plus I'm not sold on him being a good coach. He definitely couldn't have put the staff together Pruitt has. Mullen is supposed to be hard to work with. But that's just my opinion on him.

Gundy may have been a PR move but most Vol fans knew he wouldn't leave his Alma Mater. That was never gonna happen. I'm not sure he could have recruited well enough either and couldn't have put the staff together Jzp has. Same reason I wanted no part of Mike Leach. Between him and Hal Mumme as his OC it Would have ended badly like our last few.

I'm not so much saying he was the best guy we could have hired, but he is the kind of HC we needed. Although with Curry as the AD we wouldn't have landed an elite coach. What elite HC would have wanted under that Dumba$$? If Fulmer had been AD when this first began, then we may could have. But what big name coach could we have gotten to leave their current job that could put this kind of staff together and is an elite recruiter? Peterson wasn't leaving U-DUB, the Patterson bridge was burned by Hamilton, Chip is fresh of his show cause ending, Gundy wasn't leaving Ok St, Stoops isn't coming out of retirement. Miles could have been a good short term fix, but hard to recruit when it's obvious he wasn't going to coach long. Frost was going to Nebraska the second they offered. We definitely weren't gonna pay Jimbo 7-5+ mill a year.Fuente took his name out early, Franklin wasn't leaving his home state and Richt wasn't leaving his Alma Mater. Dabo nor Urban would have left to come here. If big name, established Coach's were easy to hire USC, Texas,LSU, Fla St and Georgia would have done it on atleast one of their last few Coaching search's. USC, Fla St and Georgia have all hired 1st time HC's atleast once recently. Hell Fla St hired a HC with a career losing record as did LSU. Fla has hired a couple 1st time HC's and just hired a decent HC with a losing SEC Record. I can't think of a current HC, who is established that we could have hired.

Mullen could end up being the next Saban, if he does, I'll be wrong. But right frickin now...I am happier with Pruitt than I would have been with Mullen. We gone find out! #Soon

Same here. In 3-4 yrs we may wanna run Pruitt out of Knoxville but right now I'd take him over Mullen and Chip any day. I will be shocked if he doesn't succeed but only time will tell. I'm excited about everything he's done so far.

Definitely not going to get a high ranking when you haven't coached a game as head coach. Talking heads are always going to take the safe route and take the proven factors first.
They are ranking us 13th in the SEC this coming season as a team. I think if that turns out to be true then they got Pruitt ranked to high since my belief is were no worse than sixth or seventh. If Pruitt goes 8 and 4 these same people will be calling him coach of the year so let's play the games since what is predicted means nothing.
