Great comment by Steven on Pearl situation.

If the all played with heart like he did we would be fine. Of course that starts at the top and works down.

The trouble is not so much that they don't play with the heart SP played with; it's more that they do shoot free throws and lay ups like he did.

If Louisville can take Petrino back after all he did ...... Vols can certainly take Pearl!!!!

Petrino committed adultery. It happens. Its not against NCAA rules. He didn't receive a show cause. And he wasn't even at UL at the time.

What Pearl did is completely different. The situations are not even remotely similar.

Thread worthy IMO, doubt it would prevent the continued posts suggesting their similarities though.

I would disagree with the last. They both were moral and character issues to say the least.

They may be. But go cheat on your wife and then go break a company policy, lie about it, try to get others to lie about it, and tell us which one gets you fired.

I think Petrinos situation was all moral issues. Pearl basically cheated and then lied about it when he was caught red handed. That does not fly with the NCAA which is why if Pearl did come back here they would be on us like stink on ****.

Don't you just love sanctimonious people?

What's sanctimonious about it? You try lying to your supervisor that ends up with you getting fired and see if you'll be hired back 3 years later. They most likely have a clause that says you can't because you got fired. No different here.

Who here has never told a lie to their boss? Not one of you.

A lie that could/would have put your program on probation and in hot water with the bigger governing body? If I manipulated my tactics in the medical world that violated HIPPAA, lied to my boss, and then got busted? Yeah, i'd be fired. Pearl did comparatively the same thing. That's the whole damn point. It's not like he lied about leaving the office early on a Friday.

Bro come on your smarter than this. Your one of the better posters on this board but when something gets brought up that you don't agree with you get all ignorant. Your telling me you truly believe that what pearl did and the common lying to your boss, about you being sick so you can get a sick day, is the same thing?

If you remember Hamilton wasn't in the firing Pearl category. Then comissioner Slive started his garbage and swaying and forcing Tennessee's hand. I don't think the lying to his bosses would be the hardest to overcome.

I enjoyed the success of Pearl as much if not more than anyone, but I wish he would just go away.

I hear ya dude. In all reality, Pearl hasn't really been making a bunch of appearances as a UT ambassador, just the irrational fans are always talking about bringing him back.

I dunno man, it seems to me almost every time he's on ESPN giving an analysis he brings up Tennessee. He mentioned a several months ago on there that Tennessee was a dream job. Besides that, not much though you're right.

According to people like you giving a hamburger to a kid who is a junior instead of a senior (which is no longer against the rules) and lying about it is a capital crime. Most people who aren't full of hate and venom can forgive a lie that cost no one but the man who told it. He has paid the price and is soon going to be free to pursue his career.
We did a poll on this board and a large majority want Pearl back. The states leading papers did a poll after Pearl was fired and an even larger majority of people wanted him to stay. So just because you are satisfied with having a mediocre team doesn't mean that the majority is satisfied with mediocrity.
