Great, Great Comment by Butch Jones on ESPN

Also, next year will be rough due to schedule. CBJ will have his hands full his first year out.

True, and it sucks that we always seem to be 2-3 years out from a good to great season at best. I sure hope BJ can get us there.

Here's the way I see ESPN: their ad revenue is pegged to viewership. Where are the most CFB viewers? In the south, where during football season the weather's often fine for golf or fishin' maybe?
Or in Big 10 country (OH, MI, PA, etc) where a gazillion people live, and the weather's cold and dreary. There's nothing better to do than sit in the Laz-e-Boy, drink a brewski, and watch the game on ESPN. If they're biased toward the Big 10, it's because of $$$$.

An espn survey: Knoxville,Memphis, and Nashville are in the top ten markets watching college football across the country! Makes one wonder why they won't return the love. :hi:

Sadly, it's still not going to stop people from calling for his head after we lose our first game next year.

I would think year 2 will probably be the first time we can evaluate him. I have an inkling we're going to be just as terrible in the upcoming season as this past one.

I believe that we will win at least one game next year that we will not be expected to win.

I think your inkling is contagious because I may have the same one.

On the other hand, I suspect we will have better on field decisions being made which may help.

When we start winning again, we will get some. They started showing a little before the Florida game last year, all it takes is winning.

Unlike Dooley, Butch seems to get it.

Really?!?! He knows more about this then the son of a legendary SEC coach??? Do you not see how ignorant that is?? If anything Dooley knew to much about it and tried to simmer it down while rebuilding. CBJs rah rah optimism could show how naive he is to the expectations of this job. I wish him the best of course but we all know how things can turn quickly around here.

Disagree. He's a winning coach with a winner's attitude.

You call it naive but he's a professional football coach who knows the business of football 1,000 more than any of us.

He has a winning attitude unlike Dooley. I hope his energy and winning attitude runs off on our team. Plus at least he is trying to welcome the former players unlike dooley

Honestly we'll probably be worse. We lose our three best players and the schedule is MUCH harder.

Ok. Dooley didn't want to win. Ok :good!: Thats just dumb. again the guy walked into something that the majority of people on here can't imagine and people think the guy didn't want to win. And the "let former players come back" crap again. Really??? So Dooley didn't allow players in the beginning to come by and be a distraction when ever they felt like it...not a big deal. Just blown up by idiots on here and players that aren't smart enough to understand why and got butt hurt. The guy wanted to bring some order to the asylum.

I hope CBJ the best and I'm taking it day by day, but have a problem when people feel like they have to bash the previous guy all the time. Mainly cause they are to inept to understand the situation. CBJ is a solid coach up to this pt but he needs to be careful to make sure he doesn't say or do things that will come back and bite him as just talk. The Legion of the Miserable have it in thier genes so he needs to step gently around them. He's NEVER come close to the pressure he's going to have here, so best of luck to the guy and his family.

OK, not really a Vols thing, but since the topic of "ESPN hates us" has been broached... Maybe it is an ESPN hates Tennessee thing. After the Titans beat the Jets last night, (and I have to confess that I don't watch ESPN 24/7) I have not heard one... single... word about how well Jake Locker played. There has been endless speculation however about whether or not Sanchez and Ryan will have jobs next year. Who GAS?

How well Jake Locker played? Did you actually watch the game? I did, and I saw Chris Johnson run for 94 yards early on, and the rest .... I dunno what I was watching, but it certainly didn't look like an NFL game. I thought if Jake proved anything last night, it's that he is pretty replaceable. Ugliest NFL game I've watched in quite some time, and I watch the Panthers play every week.

Locker sucks.

Titans will continue to suck. An old crazy owner and horrible management.

Hmmmm... maybe I just saw the "highlights". Admittedly I didn't "watch" the whole thing... I'll go back to coloring. :loco:
