I wasn't able to watch all the game yesterday but great win on the road against a top 10 team. If the Vols are able to win out and maybe make a strong run in the conference tournament - I think you'll be able to make a case for an at-large bid. Espcially if other conference trounaments finish chalk the way this team is playing now is hard to deny.

Good win for you guys yesterday. I woulda thought that Florida would be ready to bounce back after getting toasted by the Cats earlier in the week but I guess not. Congrats on the win.

Even winning out and a strong showing in the SEC tournament may be too little too late. Those 12 loses, against the likes of Austin Peay at home, will be very hard to overcome. We will be sitting on the wrong side of the bubble at best, I am afraid.

We aren't going to win out, though.

Thanks, McCat. You guys gonna win out?

I would rather have a good NIT run than got to the big dance and lose the first game. Obviously, nothing is guaranteed, we can beat anyone in the country, and we can also lose in the first round of the NIT.

All I am saying is that I think some tournament experience, learning how to win in a loser goes home situation would benefit the team for next year.

Tennessee is a bad matchup for Florida. Florida is a better team in terms of talent and depth, and their record and season's success will bear that out. They just don't know how to play the physical brand of basketball that Tennessee plays. They are a finesse team that lives and dies from behind the arc.

Tennessee can dominate the paint vs most teams they will play outside of UK. If Tennessee is hitting consistently from outside too, they are pretty tough to beat because it draws the defense out of the paint as they have to respect the outside threat.

IF the team can win out and make it to the SEC Tourney Championship game, maybe. The problem is the bad losses and the UCONN win isn't looking as good as it was then

I'm on the fence about it. I see the reasoning for wanting to experience some success in postseason play for confidence purposes and experience. However, I like our current six year streak and would like to keep it going. Plus, from a perception standpoint for recruiting, making the NCAA tourney is obviously considered a more successful season. That is the goal of every team. No team sets out with the goal of winning the NIT.

Wanting the NIT is just plain dumb, sorry. If they make the tourney, there is no pressure. If they lose in the first round, it was expected.

What if they make the NIT and choke in their first game? Disaster.

I think winning out and a couple if SECT wins or 5 of 6 and 3 SECT wins would give us a decent shot. The only problem with either of those scenarios is that they're not gonna happen.

If the last 10 games a team plays carry more weight than the first 10 (as some ESPN guys suggest) I think you have to consider them for an at-large bid (assuming they finish strong). I think it's important in UT's case because their best player didnt join the team until after Christmas - so they're literally a different team now then when they played APSU for example.

That is a good point, however, he is not our best player. He may be our most talented but right now maymon or golden are our best players. I still think Stokes being on the team may make whatever committee there is to still consider that as something in UT's favor

You can build a recruiting class from national exposure such as making to the championship of the NIT . Memphis coach josh pastner, in his first yr, made to the nit and with success there finished up the #1 recruiting class in the nation... That didnt bring the recruits in but it did give them enough promise for the future. I was at the fedex forum last month to watch Memphis outplay

NIT success this year could be great for the VOLS

It would help quite a bit if UCON made a run in the Big East tourney like they did year and make that win mean something. Also don't see that happening.

I am really proud of this team right now, and what a great win on the road they needed that one BAD!!! I just hope they take one game at a time and try not to look into the future and keep coming together as a team, but man it was great to sweep the Gators this year what an awesome feeling!!! VFL :eek:lol: :pepper:

No chance at NCAA

Lucky to get a NIT bid

Couple of loses to weak teams hurt us

Committee might take a look at how UT has played since Stokes joined the team. It would be interesting, considering how well they've played after Christmas.
