Greatest Actors with No Range

Michael Cera has made pretty good bank playing basically the same guy. Jason Statham has as well. Chris Pratt maybe? Keanu Reeves? (though we might be messing with the "greatest actors" part)

I'm not certain of Liam Neeson's actual range but he plays a pretty similar guy often. Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones sure play similar characters a lot but I wonder if that's as much a matter of casting than if they don't have more range in them.

For females IDK...Anna Kendrick and Zoe Deschanel maybe?
Watch Tommy Lee Jones in “Lincoln” and then the

tommy lee Jones has the range if he is given material to do so. Watch Lincoln and then Men in Black and tell me if he doesn’t have range. Add in The fugitive movies also.

Clint Eastwood.

And I absolutely love the guy. He's a Hollywood legend! But he's not exactly known for his acting range. Even in the comedies he's starred in, he's still the emotionless straight man/tough guy.

Was watching the movie 9 months last night, which is pretty funny . Great cast Hugh Grant, Julie Moore, Robin Williams, Joan Cusack and Tom Arnold. Tom Arnold is hilarious, but pretty m UF plays the same character in every movie…

That's a great movie! Definitely one of the better "ROMCOM's" I've seen. Jeff Goldblum is great in that one too. Hugh Grant is really funny in the movie with Drew Barrymore ""Music And Lyrics" where he plays a washed up pop star from the 80's still desperately trying to hold onto his career.

Goldblum is great in that. Can’t believe I left him out! I’ll have to check out Music and Lyrics . I haven’t seen it .

Seen tons of his movies spanning over his entire career. Just a personal opinion.
Wells heres a quick answer for you. Compare the movies Fragile, Aliens, Near Dark, A Simple Plan, the recent TV sitcom he played in and another role he played with Billy Bob Thornton which I believe was called Out of Bounds. All distinct and different type of roles.

Not a great actor but a great director/producer and movie maker. My all-time favorite.

Oh, trust me! You won't find a bigger Clint Eastwood fan than me! But you have to call a spade a spade. He's not exactly the most diverse thespian when it comes to emotional range. LOL! I still love the guy though!

People are being rude to Kevin Costner. He can play a gruff washed up baseball player AND a gruff washed up cowboy with ease.

If you're talking about actors both past and present, then John Wayne takes the trophy hands down. From his cadence to his mannerisms, nothing ever changed, and yet he was usually entertaining anyway.

If you're just talking about actors in the present, then I would go with Matthew McConaughey .... with the notable exception of the Dallas Buyers Club, he is the same a-hole in every movie.

He peaked with Raising Arizona. Most flicks after that were complete garbage.
I'd contend that the only flick that he was ever in that wasn't complete garbage was Fast Times at Ridgemont High. That's because he played only a very minor role in that movie.

Damn! Looking at the list of movies Nicholas Cage has appeared in tells you all you need to know about the river of sewage being produced by Hollywood.

* Interesting footnote : He was credited as Nicolas Coppola in Fast Times - his real name. He changed it professionally because he didn't want to capitalize on his famous uncle's name, but instead try to make it on his own merits. He has also resisted opportunities to be in Francis Ford Coppola's movies, unlike his aunt, Talia Shire, who was in The Godfather movies. I don't like most of his movies, but I do respect him for that.

... and come on! Raising Arizona is a classic.
