Greatest athlete of all time Mike Tyson

Tyson's style was a lot like George Foreman!s in his prime. Brute strength and wild punches. How did that work out for Foreman vs Ali?

Having said that, Tyson was fun to watch for about 3 years. Then he was fun to hate.

george foreman in his hey day... joe louis, sonny liston. yes, had he not gone to jail. man had 12 inch wide knuckles!

tyson was a freak of power. but hurt him and he was done.

ali was the greatest counterpuncher, tactician, combining speed, knowledge and agility we will ever see in boxing. period. to argue counter would be absurd. what he did against george foreman was.... amazing.

mike is one of the great champs. but, theres only one champ. cassius clay.

goat athelete? pure athlete? daley thompson, dan o brien, hershel walker, bo jackson, mark spitz, michael phelps, usain bolt, jim thorpe, i could go on and on

Tyson isn't even the best boxer ever. Rocky Marciano

Your reply reminds me of the barber shop scene in the movie Coming to America.

"There they go, there they go. Every time I start talkin about boxing some white man gotta pull Rocky Mariano out his @$$" :eek:lol:

George Ruth. 2.28 lifetime era. Over 2800 hits with over 2300rbis. Homerun machine and did all while hung over and never juiced. If we're talking the greatest of all time it's The Babe.

Tyson isn't the best athlete but he is the best poet, at least he's the author of my favorite quote, “everybody has a plan until they get hit”.....which may not have applied to his boxing career but certainly did to his life...

Saul: "A man has the right to change his name to vat ever he vants to change it to. And if a man vants to be called Muhammad Ali, *^%##%^ this is a free country, you should respect his vishes, and call the man Muhammad Ali. Morris: His mamma call him Clay, imma call him Clay. Saul: Then you're a putz. All of you are putzes. They should change the sign outside from My-T-Sharp to 'ze Three Putzes".

The athlete angle is ridiculous.

From a strictly boxing angle, (although we will never definitely know) I tend to think nobody was better than Tyson in his prime.

20 yr old Tyson would have taken the tude of Ali in the first 20 sec. Ali never took a punch like Tyson had ,never mind he never fought a roid phenom

Ever heard of Earnie Shavers? Ali took his shots and he was quite possibly the hardest puncher ever. Marciano, Lewis and Shavers were harder punchers than Tyson.

I want to rip the OPs stomach out and eat his children but that would be ludicrous and I would fade into Bolivian.

I still contend that Tyson was a good brawler and power hitter, but as far as boxing skill there are many that were better, even in his prime. He won on intimidation and landing one punch. JMO, but there is a difference between boxing and fighting.
