Greatest Pass in Vols history

In the Peach Bowl against Clemson, Clausen had another good connection to Mark Jones for a TD, but the ref (who was standing behind Jones and did not have a clear view) said it hit the ground. Clausen objected, resulting in a personal foul. Wilhoit missed the field goal. Actually, maybe that was the worst pass in Vol history.

I'd have to go with the Martin to Price for the TD that sealed the NC in the Fiesta Bowl, as bad as I hate to agree with SOME people. sniff sniff,

Now, if we were to start the worst pass in UT history, that softball pitch Ainge did from his own endzone last year against LSU is by far the worst thing I've ever seen by anyone in the Orange.

I still cringe when I think about it.

I will go with Clausen's hail mary pass aginst the gators. James banks made some hella nice catches.

Steve Alatorre laying the ball down in the endzone in '81 against Georgia Tech was pretty bad.

Banks definitely had his share of memorable catches...his gamewinning catch in overtime against South Carolina was another example of how brilliant his career could have been in Knoxville. In that game, Banks was still very new to the wide receiver position, but he went one-on-one with good coverage from eventual first round selection Dunta Robinson and beat the veteran CB for the gamewinner. It's so frustrating to see the kind of extraordinary ability JB had all over the football field, and look at the unfulfilled collegiate career he's had...all because of a lack of maturity and self-discipline.

Yeah, but Ainge did it with pahache, especially with the head butt on the goal post after the toss. It was the total package.

24 in a row vs South Carolina. That was sweet :dance2:
One of them was against the team the week before wasn't it? No matter it was still sweet, he was in the zone baby!

I believe at the time, it set two records; one for the most consecutive passes and one for the most consecutive passes in a game.

Actually, it was 23 in a row against south carolina. And then he had one pass carry over form the 'bama game totalling 24.

The best is definetly the Price catch in the fiesta bowl.

My favorite though is the 95 bama game. That is when we hit the gas and didnt let up until a few years ago.

Ainge was also on national television. Other than those in attendance and viewers of The Johnny Majors Show, nobody saw how bad Alatorre's play was. The funny thing is, we won both games.

1. Manning to Kent in the Bama game to open the game...80 yards...td. At the time, that was huge...sent a clear message we were here to win. awesome
2. Martin to Price in the NT game.
3. Shuler to Faulkner in 93 Bama game...i believe it was like 50 yards or something...

Opening play from Manning to Kent against Bama...BAM!!! Touchdown Tennessee!!!

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner. In one pass and 80 yards, years of frustration went up in flames. That play, the kick (and missed one!) in the '98 Florida game, the Stoernover, and the kick in '04 Florida have been the most memorable plays in my recent memory.

To Ronald Davis?

Yes, he was the receiver on that play. Good one, GAVol.

I also saw someone mention 4th and 19 against Bama in 2003. That's another great one.

My favorite was probably Kelly to Pickens against Auburn in '91. The 87 yarder, that is.

I'd mentioned earlier the big play from Clausen to Fayton on 4th and 19 down @ Alabama, and got to thinking about another huge play that Casey made in the clutch.

It was 3rd and 21, this time at home against the Gamecocks. After being sacked on the 2 plays prior, and with the game tied at 10 in the 4th quarter, South Carolina had us right where they wanted us. They had momentum and a ton of confidence that was growing stronger by the second...but Casey put all that to rest with a 32-yard strike to Big-Play Bobby Graham down to the Carolina 4 yd. line -- that play led to Travis Stephens game winning touchdown run. Again, a lot of people hate Casey(although I'm not sure why), but he was better in the clutch than any qb we've had here.

shuler to faulkner was 25 yards. We wnet 5 wide on that play and Faulkner burned there safety Chris Donnelly on a post route. Shuler got smacked on that play. Bama sent the house.

Manning to Kent . '95 vs. Bama OR Heath Shuler vs. Georgia in '92 fourth and long completion set up the win

I think it comes down to Martin/Price or Manning/Kent. One set the stage for a NC, the other broke a horrible losing streak against the hated Tide, one that a lot of folks on this board are probably too young to remember. For those of us who are still haunted by those long years, that pass was one of the sweetest things we've ever witnessed.
