Played a pick up game in the HPER blding with Greg, Vic Peppers, and Alvin Harper.
I recall that Greg Amsler followed by Mose Phillips were bruising hybrid backs. What a utility out of the backfield Greg was.

I saw him destroy Ole Miss in the rain for 10+ carries in a row. Had he played against Notre Dame in 89, the Vols would have probably won. He was in Majors “doghouse” and had to watch.

Amsler with a head of steam going downfield after catching the ball out of the backfield was defensive back’s worst nightmare. Like trying to tackle a boulder. Was at UT when he was there. My favorite fullback because of how versatile he was. Great hands, good speed and just gave up his body on every play.

I was in school at the same time. I remember him hanging out at Coaches Corner on Monday nights watching MNF. He had a driver his senior year. Some of you may know why that was necessary. Glad to hear he is doing good and in Church. Was one heck of a running back.

Also Roland Poles at FB right? For some reason I keep thinking about pulling out that win against UVA in the bowlgame. We were so loaded at RB back then it is insane. Cobb/Webb/Thompson?

Was stationed at the Presidio of Monterey studying Russian at the Defense Language institute back in 1978-1979. Pretty area but the water is COLD!! Seals were everywhere on the rocky beaches.

Lmao I was down the hill in Russian as well…. But in 99. I hated those seals during transcription!!!!!

That was a tough school! Ours was 36 weeks long at the time, I was passing with 75% average but after 24 weeks, I was burnt out and chose to go into Security Police. Loved it!

Watched both videos here, your highlights with Metallica was great. So was the other one...I was once considered "damaged goods" myself as a teenager. Deservedly so. I thank God for picking me up out of the gutter and letting me live to raise a couple great kids. I have 1 graduating with his Masters this December and my daughter starting via dual enrollment. So much more than I ever deserved. I am certain He will bless you for helping so many people.
