"I will be deciding at Austin's Steakhouse February 3rd, on a big talk and sports show. Lots of people are going to be surprised with my decision," Reid confirmed.
The BCS Championship Game featured the team Reid was previously committed to, and he saw some things in the game that may affect him.

"I saw them out there, and I came away knowing they return a freshman and a sophomore as their starting cornerbacks", remarked the former Gator commit.

doesnt sound like UF

"Florida State guys try to tell me they got no other cornerbacks; they say they need me real bad," Reid said. Reid is rated by Rivals.com the athlete with the fifth best hands.

"Coach (Dan) Mullen and Coach (John) Hevesy were both recruiting me hard. I'm talking to them and I'm talking to them, and then they are gone. It was kind of weird," a perplexed Reid said.

"They need corners, and they have the best defensive back coach in the world, Mickey Andrews. Of course Florida State is in my head, that kind of thing is normal right after a visit. But all schools are still even. We will see how it goes after all my visits," the cornerback said.

I feel good about Reid now. All he could talk about last night after the game was how great it was over the weekend to hang with all the Gator guys Saturday. He seemed to be the most excited person last night when Debose committed.Greg was talking today about how is heart is still with Florida. I think UGA has an outside shot, but after Urban gets him on campus on the 16th he will be back with Florida.

Lowndes defensive back Greg Reid, the AJC’s all-classification Player of the Year for the state, was asked if he would consider UGA, if he was pursued by the Bulldogs over the next month.

“Well, I don’t know about that, I can’t say,” Reid told the AJC on Friday evening. “It’s too hard to tell right now if I would consider [UGA]. I really just don’t know about that,”

This kid sounds unbelievable.... All in AAAAA Georgia football.

Reid scored five ways this season — on runs, catches, punts, fumbles and interceptions. He never had a game that he didn’t have at least one 30-yard play, and that doesn’t include kickoff returns.

“He’s the most instinctive player I think I’ve ever seen,” said Rick Tomberlin, coach of Lowndes’ crosstown rival, Valdosta. “I’ve seen him run a sweep, and the defense has it played perfectly, and he’s like a ghost. He’ll break a long run. He just does things you don’t see ordinary guys do.”

He’s definitely a game-changer,” said Conrad Nix, coach of Norhside-Warner Robins. “You have to be conscious of him in every aspect of the game. When he’s on defense, you stay away from him. On offense, you’ve got to be ready to tackle him. And certainly in the kicking game. That’s where he hurt us.”

But despite Reid’s cover skills, Tomberlin believes he’s another Percy Harvin, Florida’s runner/receiver.

“You’ve got to put the ball in his hands,” Tomberlin said. “He’s special. I’ve coached against Reggie Brown, Rennie Curran, Trey Blackmon. I’ve coached Takeo Spikes, Robert Edwards, Randall Godfrey. He’s certainly in that group. Who’s to say who’s the best.”

From what I've heard, he's back at UF, was upgraded to 5 star status, and will play DB.

He is suppose to come eat some free food in Tuscaloosa some time. Dont think it will matter much, but would be a good start for his recruitment next year.

I didn't realize we were still in the mix with Reid....

Welcome to AJC! | ajc.com

"Reid, who is also considering UGA, Florida State, Alabama, and Tennessee, said he still intends to announce his college choice on signing day."

"While Reid stated he has no favorites, he clearly favors Florida State over Florida. “I felt like I was at home at Florida State on my [official] visit, it was totally different from the feeling I got [during my recruiting trip] at Florida.”

If UF doesn't pull Jelanie Jenkins, Greg Ried, and some of these others I think there recruiting class is a big fail, considering they just won a championship.

ESPN.com has a tidbit saying that he sat down with CUM and Urban gave him a sob story about how he's been recruiting him since he was a sophmore and was pressuring him to recommit....but he woudn't. I love it. Sounds like he's gonna be a Seminole.

Benefits of a MNC happen the following year...in recruiting
The last time Fl won the mnc, they found enough freshmen signees to fill 10 of 11 vacant spots on their defense... most of whom ended up being contributors to this year's mnc. I would say they got instant returns off of that...

From the AJC:

Lowndes defensive back Greg Reid had a whirlwind day on Tuesday, which included the surprising decision to eliminate Florida from his list of finalists.

Reid, the AJC’s Player of the Year, said that now that he had a couple days to think about last weekend’s official visit to Florida, he really didn’t enjoy it.

“It didn’t feel like home anymore,” Reid told the AJC on late Tuesday night. “I wish the Gators the best. It’s just not the place for me.”

Things are changing so quickly for Reid that he said there was only three things he knows for sure: Florida State is one of his finalists, he will take an official visit to UGA on Jan. 30, and he will announce a college decision on signing day (Feb. 4).

In another turn of events, Reid said he will likely visit Tennessee rather than Alabama this weekend. “They [Tennessee] have been with me longer than Alabama.”
