I haven't let myself go there but Pearl coming back is actually picking up a lot of steam. Here's an article by CBS's Gregg Doyel: LINK

Great read...thanks for posting the link.

My concern lies with the powers that be at UT that will be making this decision. In my experiences dealing with the egos of the 'decision-makers' in any institution, there's a natural resistance to doing anything that wasn't their idea originally.

In other words, Hart/Cheek & others may end up not hiring CBP (assuming there's an opening in the near future) just because us 'plebes' are demanding it, and because the national media is now saying it would be a good idea.

I hope this isn't the case.

It is a no brainer because of several reasons. The fans would support basketball again with crowds in the 18 to 20 thousand range. Pearl would have Tennessee basketball back on the national map immediately. He would not get in any kind of trouble again would be the safest hire we could make. The boosters need to support the fans and for one time in their lives do what the fans want. The petition is gonna get the 50000 names probably within another month. The excitement and the revenue gained by a Pearl return is extreme as to what is going on now.

The situation that remains is the CCM may win this last four games. If he does he saves His job. We go to the NCAA and come back next season for another year of Cuonzo ball. He may not make it through that entire season, but if he get us in he is our coach next season.

Let's hope that any decision made is made with the absence of hubris.

As far as I'm concerned, I hope Cuonzo runs the table and makes a run to the Elite 8 because I want this team to finish strong and do well for themselves and Tennessee. But if does not happen that way, it would seem that the opportunity to not only bring back a proven winner who supports, unifies, and energizes an entire fan base but to show grace and forgiveness to a man who has been nothing but contrite and humble throughout his public walk of shame would be an opportunity no one in their right mind would pass up. And if Cuonzo should fall, I certainly hope it is Bruce who gets the opportunity to bring us back.

What an idiot! I mean how can a real sports journalist think that we can actually bbB, when many of the experts on Volnation say that it is impossible and won't happen...:pilot:

I certainly hope we win and get in also. The Cuonzo lifetime 59 percent winning percentage says we want, but I want to win and hope he can pull it off.

Hart will NOT re hire Pearl!!!! Hart wants the coaches of each sport to be popular but he doesn't want them to be rock stars and over shadow him.

We will get a mid major successful coach and try to low ball him at a cheap price....

This is not the truth. If you think that Hart will not re hire Pearl if the BOT gives him the approval nod then something tells me that you have not been following this closely. Hart is interested in Pearl and what he brings to the table he just needs the approval to bring him back and more are opened to it than they have been.

Once again Hart is a basketball minded AD and knows what it takes to have a winning program and he knows that it takes a winning coach. Hart is making a pitch to the University to BBB. I think that when a change is made it will be Bruce's job to loose.

It will be a great day in Vol nation to see Pearl walk the sideline once again in his Orange clad blazer. Also here is a question for you. Why would you think that Tony Jones is staying around Knoxville along with Pearl? I do think that if and when Pearl is re-hired Tony will be his first addition on his staff

"Some coaches are just that good. Bruce Pearl is one of them." - great article - needs to be read by UT administration. I agree that Coach Martin is a really good guy - but UT needs a really good basketball coach. I think our problem will be "Educators think differently than the real world, hence the saying "if you can't do - you teach". The future of UT basketball is in the balance - as I see it - its 50-50. I for one am not convinced of Hart's dedication to the basketball program. He has been a part of 3 only NCAAT teams in his career as an athletic director. We must also keep in mind that Hart supported Dooley til the bitter end and was and did fight for him. That to me is a real problem.
