His hatemail is generally an interesting read.

Here's one of my favorites:

From: Dave R.

Succinctly put, you are a moron.

Little tip for you: Next time you're trying to put something succinctly, don't use the words, "Succinctly put." Slows down the reader.

I actually laughed at this one:

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica] From: Jonathan M.
As a fellow writer, a native Kentuckian now living in Los Angeles, the son of a small-college basketball coach and a former college basketball player myself -- all in Kentucky, mind you -- and a member of an NCAA Division II national championship team, I feel more than qualified to take issue with the callousness of your piece about Tubby Smith.

I'm guessing you're qualified to change my oil.

I was reading something I got from my old high school the other day when it suddenly hit me . . . I went to high school with that guy and have never realized that he was the same Greg Doyel.

nice read. Gregg used to be hear in charlotte writing for the observer, and he would co host the primetime with the packman show here......he was always very "interactive" with his critics that would call in to the show and complain........very funny stuff.

So far, it is acceptable and the article by Doyle made a few good points. As long as it does not become completely intellectually bankrupt, I will reserve comment. No need to say again what has already been said.

But, it is a short distance from commenting that Noah's statements a year ago were better timed or more interesting than they are now, to blasting him because you don't like the fact that he's unattractive or plays for Florida.

My original post that I was monitoring it was obviously a joke in reference to yesterday. But if I am insulted, I'll respond in kind.

I know you don't. You don't care what anyone else has to say or what anyone else thinks. I really don't know why you don't have your own room on here so you can talk to yourself.
I respect several posters on this board. What I don't have any respect for is someone who comes on here and tries to make an arrogant, pampered, privileged halfwit out to be the greatest victim of persecution since the Holocaust.

"There was so much hating. You guys (in the media) tried to divide us," he told the Washington Post. "What are you going to say if we win two more games? What are you going to say?"

The guy sucks. I'm still going to call you a jackass Noah, like I did months ago, and I don't care if you do win back to back NC's.

When you can't say it yourself . . . or with flowers . . . say it with Hat.

Fair enough on the difference in points of view as to whether he has persevered against unfair criticism versus whether he brought it on himself. I concede that there are two schools of thought on that and of course I would not expect people here to subscribe much to the former.

But I don't think that's it fair to call him a halfwit, though admittedly he's not the best spoken guy on the planet. I think as major level college basketball players go, he's relatively well-informed and aware of the world around him and should probably get some credit from even his harshest critics that he cares.

I have to be honest and say one of the things that bugs me about Noah is the simple fact he is French. An irrational reason? Perhaps. But it's there, nonetheless.

Don't disagree, but it's all intertwined, and in the end, all part of the same perception......what has happened this year, did not happen w/out last year happening first. He was a big part of creating that perception last year, when things were good, and he fed off of it etc, etc, etc,...fast forward to today, and it's now that not only is he vilified (he himself helped create that perception), but now also victimized.....which came first, the chicken or the egg?

He made some very valid points and the conclusion pretty much sums it up:

This is sad. Last March, with his riffs on international politics and Arthur Ashe, Noah elevated college basketball into something thoughtful. This March, with his inane posturing, he has turned college basketball into professional wrestling.

"There was so much hating. You guys (in the media) tried to divide us," he told the Washington Post. "What are you going to say if we win two more games? What are you going to say?"

Not sure, Joakim. So be careful what you wish for, buddy.

The hate mail Doyel gets is ridiculous.
Why am I not shocked that most people can't argue their points with anything valid? Fallicy after Falllicy
