Ground to make up. So I went back and looked at the recruiting classes for the SEC East since 2014. Table attached with ranking and associated pts. I also projected out for 2018. Now hopefully we close strong. But lets say we finish with the #17 class. Looking at that average points will be around 2030. So So looking at that combined average over the 5 year period we can see just how many point separate us and GA per year, 402 for 17.5%. Did not have time to do the additional math, so how many extra 4 and 5 stars do we need to sign to make that difference up and how many years is that going to take? We’d better have BETTER coaching. On average, we ain’t going to out-talent GA.

I appreciate the research, but football isn't played with a calculator.

Cade Mays said georgia has just signed the greatest recruiting class in history, guess 'cause he's in it. Huh. :bad:

every dog has her day. Uga is still Uga. Pruitt will remind Kirby of her place in the pecking order. Mullen will do more with less.

Won't know or a few years, but it looks pretty damned good from where I sit. Had dinner with some dawg fans last night and they're on cloud nine. Title shot and a likely #1 class. Hard to argue.

Jawja has a stellar class no doubt. Kirby did a nice job there recruiting. They’re in a great spot with the currrent roster a lot of which will graduate. Some played and some never played. I think we’ll see really how Kirby is cut without these upper class men next season. But I hope they get destroyed on Jan 1, and I hope they lose every game next season. Eff Jawja. That being said, you have to believe CJP knows where we are, knows the gap exists, and has a plan to close said gap. Watching will be the fun part hopefully. Love the instate kids he pulled! And I think his eye is on Nat Signing Day and that’s where he’ll show just how he’s cut

We probably will never out recruit Ala. or Georgia.

We have to rely on better coaching and breaks (luck).

Old cliche. Better lucky than good.

I like Pruit, I think he was a good hire after the mess that our coaching search turned into. We were used to get raises by a couple of people, but we have no one but us fans for the Gruden deal.

But seems like quite a few are overlooking one minor detail when boasting of Pruitt putting Kirby in her place. Pruitt worked under Kirby at Bama, not the other way around. Do you really think Saban would have left Kirby in charge of the defense if he thought Pruitt was better? And lets not get into it was Saban's defense when Kirby was there but he turned it over to Pruitt when he arrived. That isn't say Pruitt can't be successful,I think he can be, but Fulmer needs to run the athletic department and not try to push his advice on Pruitt on how to run the football program. Pruitt is not they type of guy who would handle that very well.

I hate to admit it but GA's class is loaded. It will take 2 or 3 classes to catch the likes of GA and AL in roster talent but it can be done.

This was for this year so the gap will be larger as it doesn’t include the 2018 classes but this is the best calculator, it accounts for attrition and only counts who is on the team, 247 team talent has TN 12th this year.

2017 College Football Team Talent Composite

According to this, Dawgs should handle OU... but Mayfield can pull some sh*t out of his azz.

UGA is in a prime position with this recruiting class. If you look at 2019 recruits, they have a number of highly rated guys already commited as well.

They're in the NFP, and if you look at their schedule next year it is embarrassingly easy.

That said, we've had good recruiting classes recently who haven't reached potential because of bad coaching. Hopefully Pruitt and co can tap into that.

Not to mention it remains to be seen how UGA responds to losing their upper classmen as well as a few assistant coaches to UT.

If Pruitt can coach (unlike Jones) then UT has enough talent to compete and has enough recruiting strength to close whatever gap there is.

The key is what Pruitt himself said. Worry about the ones you have and not the ones you don't have. We'll know pretty quick.

UGA is beginning to look like an automatic loss every year like UF, and bama.

Yeah... because it was a long time ago that they pretty much stank it up, right?

If Pruitt can coach... UT will compete. If he can't, I HOPE Vol fans learned their lesson with Jones.

YOU CANNOT KEEP A BAD COACH.

You have to recognize it if he isn't recruiting well or has issues developing and coaching up talent. UT has to be as ruthless about it as UF was with McElwain. The "Awe give him more time" attitude has to die.

Pruitt should get 3 or at the very most 4 years to prove he can build a program and coach it.
